I remember what the Proton pack look like adn they don't look like that.  THey are not that varied.  Have no use for  a scope or a colt barrel and don't have what looks like where a magazing clips in.

Are you sure those pics aren't old? I've been looking at the recent hands-on pics and the game looks quite close to original ghostbuster in both costume and gun design.

thats what i was just going to ask. the reason i asked which links is because all the links in this thread are from way back. I was reffering to pics from the most recent gamspot issue. I'd post scans here but i dont think thats allowed. as GP said, both costume and gun design are very close to the original, if not perfect replications

see, these look closer to the shots i was talking about when i bumped this thread.
The game does look pretty fun, and the fact that dan akroid and harold raimus are contributing voiced and writing the scripts and story is pure WIN but..

i dont have a 360 or a ps3 and i dont plan on buying either, and i refuse to buy the kiddie'd up Wii version.

i heard the initial "gameplay footage" that was leaked was a modded game engine of a then-current game and was simply a test to see if there was any interest in a modern GB game

Ah, that seems alot better. That was a close call. Now all I want to see is some gameplay footage, or possibly a playable demo on 360.

You guys really should check out IGN's hands on preview

The game supposedly has an amazing physics engine as well with ghosts even using things like books to protect themselves, heck there is even a ghost made out of books. I guess the game isn't all action either, it has some exploration making the encounters with ghosts more exciting. It is also a sequel to Ghostbusters 2.

There was a big article about this game in the Nintendo Power I got today, with an interview with Dan Akroyd himself, so they were obviously playing up this game to the press. I wonder what went wrong.

The merger of Activision and Vivendi went through and has been completed, since Activision gets majority say of what to keep and what to toss....

....
Quote from: Shacknews.com
In the wake of the recently completed Activision Blizzard merger, the company has revealed that only five franchises from Vivendi Games' Sierra portfolio will be making the transition to the newly-formed company's publishing operations.

The titles and franchises confirmed to make the leap include Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ice Age, Radical Entertainment's Prototype and a yet unannounced title. Those remaining titles formerly slated for publishing deals with Vivendi Games, however, could now be without publishers.

"The only [Vivendi] franchises that Activision Publishing will release are based on Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, as well as Prototype and one other game that has not yet been announced," an Activision Blizzard representative told GameSpot. "We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing."

The remaining Vivendi Games portfolio includes Double Fine's Brutal Legend, Terminal Reality's and Red Fly's Ghostbusters, A2M's Wet, Starbreeze Studios' Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Massive's World in Conflict: Soviet Assault and Swordfish's 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, among others.

While a majority of those projects stem from independent developers, Activision Blizzard is "exploring options" for internal studios Swordfish Studios and Massive Entertainment, including possible sale or closure.

Though the news appears grim, these titles could theoretically be published under Activision Blizzard's other publishing arms. However, no official word has yet come from the company.

Brutal Legend, Ghostbusters, more dropped by Activision
Publisher passes on a slew of Vivendi Games' in-development titles; 50 Cent, World in Conflict: Soviet Assault, Wet also affected.

By Brendan Sinclair, GameSpot
Posted Jul 28, 2008 7:42 pm PT

Earlier today, Activision Publishing announced a streamlining of its Vivendi Games operations, saying it would be bringing into the fold five of that company's franchises: Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ice Age, Prototype, and one unannounced game.

An Activision representative later confirmed for GameSpot that those would be the only Vivendi Games franchises coming out of the publisher. That leaves a number of high-profile projects in limbo, including Double Fine Productions' Brutal Legend, as well as Wet, Ghostbusters, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, World at Conflict: Soviet Assault, 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Zombie Wranglers, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, as well as several Xbox Live Arcade titles.

"The only franchises that Activision Publishing will release are based on Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, as well as Prototype and one other game that has not yet been announced," the representative said. "We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing."

Activision Blizzard has other publishing arms like Blizzard Entertainment and Activision Value that were not covered by the press release and could be among the options being reviewed. As of press time, representatives from those companies did not return requests for comment.

A scheduled Comic Con International panel on the Ghostbusters game was abruptly cancelled last week, with no explanation given to attendees. However, the game was on the show floor in playable form.

This is why mergers suck :/

Well supposedly the PR team had this to say

Quote
Sierra PR team regarding Ghostbusters: "It is not cancelled and will not be cancelled."

We'll see but at least this is promising, I just can't understand canceling a game that is probably close to being finished which probably was not cheap to make.
