Mercury Meltdown Revolution
« on: December 13, 2006, 02:55:05 PM »
IGN's main story on their Wii channel is about the just-announced Mercury Meltdown Revolution. "Mercury" looked like an interestung game when it was released last year for the PSP and the developers claim that the Wii version features upgraded graphics, more levels and upfraded physics. The game will utilize the Wii-mote's tilt sensing for control which I imagine would be just like Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Has anyone played the PSP game and if so, do you think this would be a good game for the Wii?

Played it on PSP. Found it really pedantic.

Think Marble Madness, but much, much, slower.

And of course, using the PSP's analog nub sorta...sucked.

Couple this with the recent announcement of that Alien Something game releasing simultaneously for the Wii and PSP and one could make the argument that the Wii is the new PSP and will inherit a f*ckton of watered down PS2 games. Same price point too. Confirm/Deny?

Actually, before the first Mercury game came out for the PSP, I read an article (can't remember where) that the game was originally intended for some tilt-function PSP add-on that never released so they retrofitted the game for The Nub. So maybe the game will be better on the control scheme it was made for. Who knows. The second one is cel shaded right? I love me some cel shading.

Kororinpa was fantastic, my only complaint is that I wish it had more levels. Mercury Meltdown is something I'm keeping my eye on.

I have it, it's fantastic. A lot more creative than I thought it would be, it's sort of a slow paced thinking mans Monkey Ball. There's a whole lot of content here, more levels than Monkey Ball, but no multiplayer like Monkey Ball. It gets pretty damn challenging too.

Does anyone know when this game will actually get released?  I though it was Sept. 25 but it doesn't seem like it was released then.  I'm seeing all different dates on a bunch of sites.

It should already be out. I bought the game from EB (in Australia, and we usually get games last).

The American date keeps changing. I thought the last date announced was the 10th.

It'd better come out.  It's a better game than PH.
