FF:CC Wi-Fi! Errr, I mean: FF:CC NO Wi-Fi! (Plus Game Info)
« on: December 13, 2006, 04:06:40 AM »
That's right. FF:CC for the DS will be local play amongst friends only. Right now there might not be any wi-fi at all.

Director: Mitsuru Kamiyama (FFCC coder)
Char. Design: Toshiyuki Itahana (FFIX, Chocobo)
Lead chars are twins: Yuri and Cherinka
Up to 4 players
Vertical position affects battles (i.e. there is a Y axis)
There’s a new jump command.
No crystal gauge.
Not full voice but there will be some voices in it.
Single player involves changing between chars.
Theme is family love and brotherly love.
Multiplayer is currently not Wi-Fi - Square wants you to play in the presence of friends (oh noes).
Not even confirmed if there will be Wi-Fi content of any kind.
Kawazu is not involved.

(this is via GoNintendo via NeoGaf via Famitsu)

Well hopefully since the Wii version will be WiFi and since you can hood the DS version up to the Wii version, amybe then you can play it online through connectivity.

[]Would they really make people buy a Wii just to play online? Well they did make people buy GBA's and cables just to play multiplayer on the previous version, so why not, besides the Wii is cheaper than buying 3(or 4) extra GBA's + cables, so infact you would be saving money!! [/]

Will the Wii version be online? Maybe they'll want four people in front of the tv for the same reason as the DS.

I won't be buying this, that's for sure.

I predict the DS game (if it does in fact ship with only local play) to sell about as well as the GCN FF:CC.  Wi-Fi would have opened the game up.  Locally I have no one to play with so I will have to go it alone.

Online would be cool, but I can predict it would be a bunch of droppers or faggots screwing around.

Edit: Perhaps they can do friends only WFC play.

I played most of FF:CC alone and still enjoyed the game.  Though a few tweaks to the single player game and you could easily have a real winner.

Whatever... Get some local friends. My friends and I will have lots of fun. The single player will be plenty of fun too.

According to IGN (I know, geez...), Wi-Fi still hasn't been decided on. They're "exploring options," but it may turn out to be just item-sharing or something equally of no interest to me (when compared to full wi-fi coop, at least)...

Bah, but it's not good news. I had a bad feeling about it.

P.S. - Does anyone else think it's a cop-out to say "We want you to be in the same room as the people you're playing with so you can talk to each other"? HELLO VOICE CHAT FRICK.

I'll believe that when I see it... Square seems determined to make the FF:CC series as unapproachable as possible.
