I am usually not a big racer fan.  Other than mario kart the last real racer that I owned was F-Zero for the SNES.  But I found myself addicted to this game after I got it for christmas.  I just unlocked super excite mode, and I can't come close to beating the gate challenge mode on normal excite.  I love the over the top nature of the game, with big air and truck smashes.  At first, and in the demo, I really sucked it up.  But once I got to playing and got used to the tight controls, I got a lot better. Now I play courses over and over just so I can find new ways throught he course and new ways to get big air.  One of the scotland tracks(probably in platinum) has a POW powerup that I haven't been able to get and use without crashing into a wall, so there is still a lot of improvment for me to do.

Excite Truck is the real deal if you're seriously into arcade-style, super fast racing games. It's just PURE fun. It's the best racing experience I've had since MK: DD without a doubt.

In the early days before the launch, there were a lot of impressions of people who had played the game at a Gamestop and came away not enjoying it much, hence why I insist that people rent the game to get a more solid impression of it as the game doesn't really come together until after you've done the tutorials.

Yeah, to appreciate the experience, you really need to do the tutorials or at least have someone explain so you can pull off some really great jumps and chain a lot of boosts together.

When I was playing yesterday I started slowing down just to try and get into some accidents with my sister.  They made for entertaining replays.  She became the queen of drifting...she managed to win one race thanks to 66 drift points.

How odd. I played it at GameStop the day the demo kiosk went up and after one race I flat out KNEW I had to have this game as soon as I got my Wii. I don't get why anyone would need to get "in depth" with any racing game to figure out if it's for them or not. But maybe they just really wanted to play Wii Sports instead and were just taking their frustrations out on Excite Truck.

I played SB's copy. I have to admit that when I first played it, I wasn't all that impressed with it and in fact I was beginning to get annoyed by it. It wasn't till I played through the tutorial that I finally got into the swing of things and started having fun.

I've yet to fully play it so my opinion on it is still up in the air, but it is leaning towards the good.

Sorry for bumping this, but after thinking about it I regret not spending enough play time with Excite truck.

Like I mentioned, SB brought his copy along with the Wii and I ended up playing very little of it. This was because:
1. Wii sports enthralled the entire family and was easier to play and show off than ET (Seriously, the game does have a bit of a learning curve)
2. I helped SB beat Elebits most of the time
3. I got Zelda and me and SB were hooked on it
4. We usually had something better to do (SB had to check up on work, we had places to see and movies to watch).

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, when I first played it I was annoyed at how loose and floaty the controls felt. Seriously, even if you turn slight left your car goes ALL the way left. And the physics are floaty as hell (not really the game's fault, since all arcade racers have floaty physics). So I was beginning to get annoyed by it.

But like SB mention, doing the tutorial makes a huge difference. Once I was done with the tutorial I was about to get in the groove of things and the game started to get fun.

But alas, due to the circumstances I mentioned I didn't spend enough time with the game, leaving my opinion of the game in the dark.

I was annoyed by it, then started to like it and...that's where it ends.

Once I get my Wii, I will try to see if I can play it some more. I'll either rent it, buy it for cheap or borrow it as I really want to fully play it.

The controls are better than that, at least for me. Maybe you were using trucks with poor handling? I've only unlocked 2 or 3 trucks so far, but I prefer the Summit at the moment. I really think the game is awesome, and is probably the best looking Wii title out right now - maybe tied with Zelda.

This game is so awesome that even the cesspool that is NeoGAF has to recognize how awesome it is.  I've unlocked mirror mode now, and I've started in on that.  My favorite racer is the Alpine (Sunset Orange).
This game is ridiculous, I love it.  Everyone I've showed it to loves it as well.

I've been playing the absolute crap out of Excite Truck lately. I was thrilled when I unlocked Super Excite and saw there were about 10 new truck to unlock. I've gotten a lot of trophies, quite a few of my "next" things are set to 250 now. BTW, speaking of trophies, when you have one on the screen, move your Wiimote around in all different directions - it shows you just how absolutely PERFECT the transition from moving your Wiimote to steering/jumping/etc is.

Yep! I didn't even know there was a big damn truck thread here. I masturbated all over GAF and GFF about this game when I got it. :] Best arcade racer since Rush 2049! All the sites that gave this average scores fail at fun.

I played it at the demo kiosk and thought it was neat, but I wasn't sold.

It wasn't until I rented it and ran through the tutorial that I saw the fully beauty of the game by way of all the various means to collect stars, tricks and stunts you could do, and getting the hang of the controls likewise helped greatly.

I admit that I am still on the "its neat but I'm not sold" stage, hence why I asked for SB's copy so that I can play more of it.

Once I started to understand the game I was starting to have fun, but Wii Sports and Twilight Princess dominated my attention.

I just unlocked the final race (before mirrors) in Super Excite.  That race is amazingly cool...and worth all the effort to play the game and race it.

It was a very nice surprise and reward for all the hard work I went through to unlock it.

I couldn't even pass that race until after I unlocked the MONSTER TRUCK.  Though I think I might've used a different truck to get a gold there.  I don't remember.  I've kind of given up on unlocking mirror mode.

I am not very good at the game...I had a friend help me unlock the Platinum Cup...and that cool level.

I have no idea how I will be able to beat any of Super Excite with S rankings.
