Topic: TNA iMPACT Wrestling Game Coming to Wii

The first wrestling game for Wii is based on the Spike TV show.

A Midway PR Rep confirmed to us today that TNA iMPACT, a wrestling game based on the TNA Wrestling show on Spike TV, will be coming to all next-gen consoles, including Wii. A trailer for the game will be featured at SpikeTV's upcoming Video Game Awards show, aired Wednesday, December 13th, although this trailer will most likely not focus on the Wii version. It will be available for viewing on Thursday night at http://www.tnawrestling.com.

The roster will probably not even be close to accurate when this is released. Partly due to TNA constantly gaining/losing wrestlers, and partly to Midway sucking at making games.

Fixed. Okay quote tampering aside. I like wrestling which is why I don't like WWE. The matches are terrible, they have really gone down hill since Vince bought WCW and ECW. I'm glad they have some competition. TNA puts on some damn good matches. You get to see matches reminiscent of the old Cruiseweight wars of WCW. Vince needs to stop worrying about how he can make grown mean literally kiss his bear behind and put on some technically impressive matches. Also, if WWE is going to do women's wrestling could they at least teach the divas how to handle themselves in the ring?

Well at least this game will have Samoa Joe in it.  Still I don't trust Midway worth a damn either.  On the N64 Midway probably could have done something good but since they axed arcade development they've sucked.  They should make their games under the assumption of them being an arcade game and then "port" them to home consoles.

Still much like wrestling turned to crap once the WWE had a monopoly, wrestling videogames also turned to crap at the same time.  By creating competition a TNA game might force the WWE games to get better.  But then I thought TNA would force the WWE to get better and instead I get two wrestling leagues that suck.

Nice to see the game finally confirmed for Wii (before they just said "next-gen systems"). Being made by Midway worries me though.

Why can't WWE set up something like the NBA, NHL,  and most other sports organizations (minus the NFL) have? Don't give the license to just one company, let several companie make WWE games. Right now THQ is like EA in that they don't have to try and improve their games because they know the consumer doesn't have any other choice if they want a WWE game.

Because the WWE isn't actually a sports organization.  Besides the WWE doesn't give a sh!t that THQ's games suck.  All they care about is the moolah rolling in and I think it's been well established by now that people will all too often buy lousy games in vain hope that they'll magically get better when there is nothing else.

It's actually a lot like the WWE in general.  I know tons of wrestling fans that catch every episode of Raw and Smackdown and yet complain the whole time that it's crap.  I put up with that for a little while and eventually discovered I was getting no enjoyment out of it so I stopped watching.  I still consider myself a wrestling fan since I still enjoy a good wrestling show, I just rarely get to see stuff I like anymore.  Companies will take you for granted when they know you'll support their product no matter what.  If you don't like what they're offering the only way to force things to improve is to dump their ass so they have a scramble to get the fanbase they took for granted back.  The WWE show and WWE games will never improve unless they feel they have to in order to make a profit.

I guess it's similar to Madden. I hear all these people complaining about Madden and how they never really change it (which is true) but then I see things like Madden 07 breaking the previous Madden sales record (set by the 06 edition).

I was considering buying SDVR 07 for the Xbox 360, but not after reading about how gimped it was (like no custom soundtrack, not being able to edit wrestlers, wrestlers like Paul London and Brian Kendrick not being in the game despite being the tag champs since May).

IGN has the trailer. If those are actual game models, then I'm thoroughly impressed by the visuals. I have a feeling it's like the CG openings used in Smackdown: Just Bring It for PS2, though, and then the in-game models were a complete let down.
