First store had no units that weren't preordered (I'd assume that means they also had some preorders that weren't filled, it's one of those stores that I don't expect to limit preorders correctly). To reach the remaining 5 stores I wanted to check would require a train journey and waiting for 15 minutes until the train arrives. Nothing is more annoying than waiting for a train to arrive. During that time I thought about the whole deal and figured I don't want the Wii TP anyway (no camera controls = no sale, lack of camera controls can make me go from enthusiastic to frustrated and done with the game in less than a minute if I get hit because the camera refused to show something), if anything I'd buy the GC version. That'd leave me with Wii Sports and Wii Play which I expect to last about as long as Sawaru Made in Wario. I.e. I'd play for a day or two and after that the thing is used for its backwards compatibility until new games arrive. While I don't think the games will take as long to arrive as they did for my DS (which I got from Lik-Sang 5 months before the European release) that'd still be months of having a console that's useless. So the hype wore off and I returned to my previous oppinion about the Wii: Wait until later. So I went home.

I had spread my attention over multiple places to see who would get me a wii first.
But it's still the first one i'm getting - i'm only after one. Which I am getting on monday. SUCCESS. Problem is, i finish college at 1230 and finish work at 2000, so even though i'll have wii with me all day i won't be able to play

In other news, people who were queueing up outside HMV Oxford Street (some from tuesday) were sent home because of police fears.

Tsk, KDR.  The controls are BETTER than GameCube.  I absolutely know what you're talking about, I far preferred Wind Waker's controls to the N64 games mostly due to the camera, but aiming and throwing are both much easier on Wii and the camera controls are improved over the N64 games.  The sword control isn't technically better, but it's more fun.

But I suppose I shouldn't be making you feel bad! You may still like the Cube version better since I seem to remember you played Wind Waker first of all.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Well I've gone and done it - wasn't at all sure but I've finally got a Wii. I'm far from conviced so far by the wiimote as a control mechanism but it's better than I expected. Verdicts so far - Wii Sports looks like it'll be fun but not with only one controller Rayman plays OK but dear me it doesn't half look like ass, finally, Super Monkey Ball - pretty good, looks good, plays well - main game at least. Again - only one controller - that's what I get for strolling in at 9AM instead of queuing up at midinight like everyone else!

I get an urge to hurt game designers whenever I get hit by something the camera didn't show despite my attempts to make it. I'll take horrible aiming over the frustrations of an uncontrollable camera any day. The camera is what made me stop playing Devil May Cry 3 in disgust at the third boss (try reflecting bullets when you only see them a split second before impact, the only way to do that is spam sword attacks and hope something connects). Failing when I feel I didn't do anything wrong zeros my motivation. Same reason I hate racers with rubberbanding or blue shells.

I've had very few instances of not seeing what's coming after me in Twighlight Princess, but we'll see, the swimming area that I just started is set to make things a bit worse.

Swimming always makes things worse.  Actually it's not bad.  Wii Sports do the training.  Trust me.  Do the trainings.  Especially the bowling one which is the best overall game in the pack.

Who were you talking or responding to with that bit?
