I finally just saw this movie - I'm not going to ruin anything, but I kid you not when I say it's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. By a long shot. If you haven't seen it (and you're 17 or older), get the Hell out and see it now.

I saw it back on opening night.  The place was packed because all the neighbouring town theatres didn't have it so everyone went to Langley.  I laughed through the whole thing and in one scene, and I'm sure anyone who has seen the film would know what scene I'm talking about, I was laughing so hard I was sore.

Only one other person at my work has seen the film.  He hated it.  Didn't find it funny and found it incredibly offensive.  Even questioned how a film like that was allowed to be made (great defender of free speech he must be).  Since he is more popular at work than I am he has convinced everyone else to not see it.  I actually kind of like the fact that I'm the only one at work that "gets it".  Great humour is rarely universal.  Stuff that anyone CAN find funny usually isn't.  The film was right up my alley as if someone was specifically making it for me.  I love films like that.

If the film's concept sounds funny to you go see it because you'll love it.  If it sounds offensive to you then it will be a waste of money because you'll force yourself to not find it funny.

I can see how some would be offended. It's all a joke, but I can see someone's feelings getting hurt, but only because they don't have a good sense of humor. The DVD is coming out in Region 5 (Eastern Europe) next week, I'm gonna try to get an import, as long as it's in English and you can disable subtitles. Then I can back it up and make it region free to play on my DVD player...although I'm pretty sure my XBox 360 plays PAL DVDs.

I'm not unpopular at work, just less popular than that other guy.    Most of my co-workers are in their 40's and don't have much in common with a guy in his mid-20's.

The difference is Borat doesn't suck.

Seriously thought Andy Kaufman often seems to be jerking around the audience that is supposed to find him funny.  Borat is goofing around with people but the audience is supposed to find it it funny as well.  In other words when I watch Andy Kaufman it seems like he's picking on me while Borat seems to be including me in on the joke.  Kaufman describes his style as anti-humour.  Borat is straight out humour.

But then it is entirely possible that the two routines are identical and I just personally find Lafka incredibly lame and unfunny and Borat hilarious.  Maybe it's all in the execution.

Lafka was... not the best part of Kaufman.

I just realized who else the entire Borat thing reminds me of...

But yeah, neither one of them (Kaufman or Balki) ever managed that particular stunt while in the spotlight...

But the movie film was alright.

Was anyone else shocked and offended by the nude wrestling scene? I found what he did to be in really bad taste. Censoring his man parts, I mean. He was more than willing to show other people's man parts, so he should have been willing to show his own. But he didn't have the balls. For shame.

Didn't you notice the insanely long censor bar though? I'm pretty sure this was done to create the illusion that Borat's wang hangs to his knees...unless it's not an illusion.

Talent I supposed.  Besides how often do you laugh at your own jokes?  I usually only laugh at someone else being funny or if they're laughing at something I said or did I end up joining their laughter.  The only people I know who laugh at their own gags are unfunny idiots who laugh at their own jokes as a way to let you know that in fact they were trying to be funny (ie: that loud obnoxious guy at every party ever).  I figure the greater problem for a film like this would be the camera crew not laughing.  If I was filming I would have at best a huge grin across my face the whole time.
