Idea for LCD Attachment for Wii
« on: November 24, 2006, 02:48:53 PM »
Remember when we first heard about the sensor bar for Wii and a lot of people (well, someone, at least) were concerned that there wouldn't be an LCD attachment...

What about an LCD screen attachment that has the infrared sensors built into the framing of the screen?  Think it'd work?

It would be particularly difficult to aim accurately as well as simply see the screen from the distances you'd have to be.  It might work, but I'm skeptical.

Well the sensor bar just sends out signals that the IR camera in the Wiimote picks up so who knows. I doubt people would make that unless you wanted to make Wii portable in the sense of moving it around while playing, something it is not which is why we have the DS in the first place.

I don't know if anyone would make such a screen. The sensor bar is easily placed anywhere and even you can make your own.

I discussed something like this a year ago.

We WILL see more freehand pointy non-mousy technology in the future.

Maybe, maybe... What the coolest thing is, after someone cracked the function of the sensor bar, people have been making their own psudo wireless ones, and my favorite, using candles as Wii sensor bars.
