How about you host it somewhere you don't have to worry about restrictive posting rules such as restricted HTML-like syntax or different forum "language"? I see you already split the subsections into separate posts over on CAG, but maintaining two versions of anything is really redundant.

Its a nice guide, but you're still in for pain no matter where you host it if you are constantly updating it and relying on someone else's hosting/bandwidth. Get a real website (ah Geocities, those were the days) and make it readable. vBulletin, phpBB, Fusetalk, etc, make things easy to administer, not to read. CSS is worth including on any internet page these days, its ridiculously pretty compared to the old days of the internet.

Our version is just a lazy port.

Shift: Aye, and I'm working on that.  I do have some server space somewhere, and ultimately I'm going to move it on over.  It gets a lot of usage over at CAG so I imagine I'll leave it there initially and just copy and paste it to its own website.  I didn't think the original thread would explode the way it did - I think the version version of it was maybe 10-15 questions and something like 5 pages long.  Now it's something like...I'm not even sure.  20-25 pages?

So yeah, I'll have to look into better methods of maintaining it.

Corrections

*If your Wii locks up and is froze...You can hold the Power button in for 3-5 sec. and it will power down and turn wiiconnect24 off (red glow)

*8 blocks = 1 meg, 1 block = 128 K

*Gamecube saves CAN'T be transfered to SD cards, only other Gamecube mem. cards

*friend code and IP address are not the same thing or alike.

*If you send a Mii to someone that already has that me, it automatically replaces it witht the one you just sent

*wii email address has no dashes example (w1234567890123456@wii.com)

*Holding "B" Enables Progressive Scan on Gamecube, NOT Widescreen.  For games that support widescreen on GameCube, you would find it in the options menu under resolution or something similar and it will say 4:3 or 16:9, or something similar. (some games like RE4 and Beyond Good & Evil are already in widescreen and will have black bars on top and bottom)

*Burn-in reduction wasn't a firmware upgrade (I seem to remember it on mine before I updated)

*An interupted firmware download update doesn't guarentee a bricked system.  As this happended to me and I was able to reset my Wii and try downloading again

*Eject gamecube game and remove, then hit reset...easiest way to get back to Wii system menu, works on most Gamecube games

*As of currently least amount of new VC games in a week was 1, and the most was 4 (i think)

*Not all Genesis games will work with a GameCube controller (Nintendo's website states this)

*Wiimote ment to lay on lap while your using Classic controller

You should update to add the Orb / Media Centre X compatibility on the Opera Browser.

EDIT: I see you mention Orb briefly.

The others notwithstanding, I've seen first hand where this doesn't work.  Holding down the power button on the wiimote and/or the system itself did nothing.

well, every time my Wii has locked up for whatever reason.  Holding down the power button on the system powered it down the same as if you unpluged it, then pluged it back in.  If unpluging works for you...go for it.  I just always prefer to do things where i don't have to unplug and replug things.....?, that didn't sound right

I don't like unplugging the system at all.  I'm just saying I've seen mine get to a state where I couldn't do anything to turn it off outside of cutting the power to it totally.

The day I cut power and it stays on?  That's the day I haves me a double scotch on the rocks.

well, the first point explains why the second one can't be done, as the block size is different (I wonder why they changed it though....)

for those wondering, the Cube's block size is: 1 block = 8KB
