The PS4 gap continues to close - of these sales keep up (they won't), Nintendo will take the lead within a couple of months (which is extremely impressive considering the PS4 has outsold the PS3 in Japan by around one million units so far).

I have to admit, every time I see the "PSV" I'm like "wtf Japan already has PlayStation 5?!" for like half a second. Microsoft should be happy with the over 500% increase in Xbox One X sales, and the...literally increase of 1 for regular Xbone.

If anything, December should see the gap shrink even more b/c Smash on top of the usual December boost for Nintendo consoles.

Sony will pull back after New Year's Day, but then normal service resumes...

next milestone to chase is 3DS launch aligned in Japan.

Anyone have those figures? How does Switch compare to 3DS if they were launch aligned?
or at least during the same months of the same years from launch?

So switch doubled up PS4 in Japan in 2018
and then in less than the 1st 2 weeks of 2019, it's only 500k behind, and averaging 240k+ units a week in the last 2 weeks of 2018 .... had to of sold 110k+ units in the first week of 2019 since the reporting seems to be about 3 days behind.

Very impressive.

So Switch is at 688,850 behind PS4 in Japan right now. Side note: PS4 has (quite easily) outsold PS3 and Xbox 360 now (91.6 million PS4s sold), and looks like it will surpass PlayStation and Wii within the next several months. It has absolutely mopped the floor with Xbox One, even if you don't count Japan at all (2.34x as many consoles sold) - and Switch will most likely pass up Xbox One at some point this year globally.
