Like sure it's heavily dependent upon the development budget for a title, relative to the platform's popularity and how long the platform has been in the market etc. But something like PoochPooch, how much would Nintendo hope for it to sell?

It's a down-port I guess, albeit with some extra content, a new title and on a much more popular platform (an ageing one perhaps). But the original sold like what, a million units over just 13m Wii U's? Would they expect to match that, or maybe get to 25-50% of those sales numbers? I have no idea, mind, just curious.

I thought the numbers for Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World looked to be a bit light as well, but it seems to be selling in line with Nintendo's expectations; apparently the 40,000 or so units it sold in its first week was 80% of its initial shipment. Looking back at the Wii U game, it wasn't a big seller in Japan either (it only managed to clear 100,000 units sold before losing momentum). What's going to make or break the game is the overseas sales, like the original.

It's tough to say. It reached 1.37 million on Wii U which is lower than some of the Yoshi games before it. However, Yoshi's New Island on 3DS didn't clear 1 million from what I can find, so I'm not so sure how well Woolly World will do even though the game was much better received than New Island. 3DS sales appear to be slowing down as well.

According to Wingfield, Fils-Aimé also said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has become the best-selling standalone launch title in the Americas in Nintendo's history. The Super Mario 64 game for the Nintendo 64 held the previous record.

Famitsu reported on Tuesday that the Nintendo Switch sold an estimated 330,637 units in Japan in the first three days of the system's release. Famitsu also reported that the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch and Wii U game sold an estimated 193,060 copies between March 3 and March 5. That number does not include download sales. The game is the Nintendo Switch's current top-selling title in Japan.

The record numbers are very positive, but the real test will come after this launch period when we start to hit a lull and the Zelda experience wears off. Very very cautious optimism.

That's why Arms and Mario Kart weren't launch titles. Nintendo is purposely spacing things out to try and avoid too much of a lull, which was a huge problem with both Wii U and 3DS.

I feel like Deluxe will have a hard time matching the sales pace or buzz of the original. There's some really good potential for ARMS though if Nintendo plays it right.

I wonder if this news reflects popularity/interest in the console or improvements in Nintendo's supply chain management? The console is still selling as fast as they're making them, so I agree that we should wait and see how the buzz is after the launch window.
