Well it's not like GTAIV is just going to stop selling...It's the kind of game that has legs...

It just doesn't have the system-selling power effect that people were expecting...

And the 50 million that MS gave Rockstar was a loan, which means they will get that money back anyway...

The reason is probably because anyone who cares about hardcore violent games probably already owned a PS3 and/or 360 to begin with. The hardcore "mature" market is only so big, and 90% of the people who care probably already have the systems by now anyway. Mom and Dad and Grandma aren't going to be playing GTA IV, so really, how could it be a system seller?

The argument many (fanboys) used was that many PS2 owners were waiting for GTAIV to come out before getting a 360 or PS3... =)

Well now that GTA4 has failed to help the 360/PS3, nothing, I repeat, NOTHING is going to stop the Wii, period. Now I hope 3rd parties will get the message that the Wii is the true successor to the PS2, and finally start giving it serious support.

With numbers like this, it's only a matter of time before the major share holders of each company start asking why their companies aren't supporting the Wii more. With all the money to be made, eventually the people at the top are going to step in and make the Wii their companies focus.

But Gamepost said GTAIV would affect Iron Man (the movie) sales and yet Iron Man is doing pretty good in the Box Office. So therefore I conclude GTAIV equals failure.

Well didn't we know that the PS3 and 360 are catering to a niche market which buys lots of software, and aren't expanding their fanbase? I guess the PS3 could have done better, but nearly everyone who wants a 360 already has one.

Seriously, this isn't even being fanboyish at this point...It's almost 3 million sales for sub-400K system sales...GTA will probably sell another 3 million or more next month but there won't be much change in hardware...

Nah, I don't believe in MGS' ability to move significant hardware. But this is GTA, so I'd rather stay on the safe side.

I'm curious as to Nintendo's allocation numbers though. With Japan Wii Sales at maybe about 70k a week, that could be leaving 1.4 million units for America, Eruope, and others. I was worried that Wii numbers would drop back in April, but I'm starting to wonder whether these 700k monthly numbers are actually sustainable... they just might be... and Nintendo's actually looking to increase capacity another 600k units!?!?! Wow.

I'd have to think that Nintendo's going to allocate those extra units to expanding markets, especially with the concern over when demand will end. Korea they've launched in... maybe China this year... I know they're already in South Africa... well... maybe they need to enter the Indian market, I know the 360 has...

According to this article on VGChartz (trust them or not, they're always pretty close), Wii is officially #1 in region on the planet, having just eclipsed the XBox 360 after only 79 weeks on store shelves.

Mario Kart is pretty impressive, mainly because of the huge Mega Box it's shipped in. I actually filled it with 5 Wii game cases and there was room left over for a hot dog.
