Huh. Will you look at that. After the Wii and DS absolutely dominating the Canadian charts, the 360 gets a small victory in September. This is the best month that the 360 will ever have over here though - the stars aligned perfectly for it with Halo and NHL coming out in the same month. The NHL sales are crazy if you take into account the relatively small 360 userbase - though I've played the game, and it's amazing.

Why can't you put NHL on Wii EA?

Well, I'm sure the XBox 360 will stay high all throughout the Holiday season. The big question is how high everybody peaks in the months of November and December. Nintendo said twice the supply, so this puts them at about 1 mil and 1.6 mil for november and december respectively, who knows how the other consoles will do?

Yeah, if Nintendo's not careful, Metroid Prime 3 will disappoint. They need to give the game some legs.

Metroid Prime 3 will benefit from the holiday season boost.  I think it'll go on to sell a million units (probably by Q2 2008).  If Nintendo actually put some marketing muscle behind it, it might've been at about 750k by now.

Odd that a month that the 360 pulled ahead would be the month to pretty much seal that the Wii has this generation in America, but pretty much Halo 3 was their biggest gun, and while the leap is very impressive... the Wii did very admirable in its wake and Nintendo's big guns (not including Wii Sports) are still on the horizon.

In other news, PS3 has no hope...

This has to be one of the final nails in the coffin for Sony - PS3 being outsold by it's predecessor by nearly 100k - and this is a 5 week month! This is a great boost for Microsoft - and now it's pretty clear that Nintendo has at least been diverting some Japanese Wiis to NA, probably to try and combat Halo 3, I guess they just didn't realize how many 360s were already on store shelves.

Yeah, Sony's gone.  Hard to see how they even make a respectable showing at this point.

The Wii's numbers are fantastic.  Almost equaling the 360 during its release of the biggest game of the generation.

The smallish sales for MP:3 are very troubling.  What games do people buy with a Wii anyway?  It looks like almost everyone who bought the console last month didn't bother to pick up its best game with it.

It's only ~250,000 more than last month, which confirms what we've all been saying - Halo 3 isn't really pushing systems, as most people who want it have a 360 already. It sold 3.3 million copies yet it only moved a few hundred thousand systems at best. Now we have no reason to believe that it will ever outsell the Wii again in Canada and the US.

Hasn't MP3 sold pretty well though? I would like to see how it compared to something like Bioshock. ANYWAY, wouldn't it be hilarious if Mario Galaxy outsold Halo 3?
