You have to walk your way through the "Cruisin'" difficulty to get to the real game, but once you're Sweatin', Elite Beat Agents will OWN you.  And if the song list seems shorter than you remember, that's because you have to get big scores for the rest.

I agree with Bloodworth. I've gone through around 10 songs, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Perhaps more than any other DS game thus far.

So, would you guys say that having to unlock the additional songs adds to the challenge or is it frustrating?

Unlocking the songs I see as a challenge, forcing you to get better at the songs and adds replayibility (sp?), but I am worried that I won't be able to move on because I am severely stuck on a song and I need to beat it in order to get to the next set of songs.

Well Ouendan progressed by unlocking groups of songs as well. What's new in EBA are the last three bonus songs that can only be unlocked by hitting certain lifetime score benchmarks, such as 10 million points.

Did you guys notice that Nintendo has labeled EBA as part of the TOUCH GENERATIONS DS line??

This is perhaps the most UN Touch generations game available. Maybe Nintendo hopes that EBA is to casual gamers as Guitar hero is to the hardcore.

If you think about it, the gameplay is easy to learn, the music is mainstream and the stories are somewhat set in reality.

Still, this is a surprising addition.  Maybe Ian will stop complaining about the Touch generation games lacking depth... :p

Just bought it. I shoulda reserved it because then I'd have my own copy instead of Gamestop's last copy. I feel guilty now. I've learned my lesson though...

OK, this is a question for those that are playing EBA and have played Ouendan to death...

Would you say EBA captures the heart and high energy spirit of Ouendan, or does it fail miserable? Does EBA compare to Ouendan in greatness or is it a pale imitation?

I ask because just now a friend of mine from another forum that I visit, who happens to be a HUUUUUGE Ouendan fan, posted his impressions on EBA and he feels the game is just...bleh.

I have the gut feeling that those that rank Ouendan VERY, and I mean VERY high will think EBA is a disappointment because both games, while similar in gameplay and concept, are very different from each other.

EBA IS NOT BLEH.

... the only thing that makes it worse than Ouendan is that the "Ouendan" screams in the original are TONS BETTER than the "HEEEAAALLLPPP" renditions in EBA. EBA's "EEAAALLLPPP" sounds are atrocious.

EBA is not quite as wacky as Ouendan, but I'm not sure how much Ouendan's comedy is boosted by the cultural divide.  Also, EBA's normal difficulty is a bit toned down, so you won't get to the good stuff until you're about at the 13th song or so.  I've been playing for two days straight and have tried a bajillion times to beat the last song on the hardest difficulty.  That should be all the evidence you need for awesomeness.

I think it's listed as touch generations because you almost never have to push any buttons.  That's just my theory though.

That, and maybe Nintendo thinks the mainstream songs will appeal to non gamers. Even though I grew up listening to latin music I have heard at least once all of the songs in EBA. Maybe Nintendo thinks that with the songs being so universally known it will encourage people of all ages to pick it up and try.

Also, the humor in Ouedan was heavily based on anime cliches, while the stories in EBA seem more like both a parody of pop culture (the Carrington Sisters being parodies of the Hilton sisters) and sitcom situations (girl gets stuck babysitting and such).

You guys are really tempting me to spend more mnoney on yet another game that I never would have thought of buying (the first being Phoenix Wright). But I am overly skeptical that I would not enjoy this one, some one want to reassure me and offer to buy it from me if I don't like it?
