Madden Wii

Sounds like fun but I'm holding out for an NCAA football game on the Wii.

Soooo getting it at launch.

It's great to hear that IGN likes the controls. I've always thought that Madden would be a great title to show off the Wii to people. Oh, to actually stiff arm a guy!... and to let my dad play.

I agree it's the kind of title that might bring in some of the casual Madden market. Unfortunately, knowing some of my casual friends they would play it and have a ball but would still choose a 360 or PS3 version of Madden simply because of the graphical differences.

ARRRRGH!

.... would they buy the PS3 or XBox 360 version if they each cost $10 more?

Here is the thing.  This Madden is a completely unique experience.  True Madden fans may try this game once, and buy it on the spot because it is such an original experience.

In fact, if you are buying a football game you usually only need to buy one a season, but with this new Madden people may be double dipping...or go for the never before experience single dip instead of the pretty one with sprinkles.

I'll definately try it out, and I really think this Madden is a good depiction of how Nintendo's plan with the Wii could be brilliant. The games coming out for it all have potential to be unique experiences even if they are "ports" due to the new controls.

I don't give  rat's ass about Madden and I'm interested in trying out this game. Of course we can't predict just how the "real" Madden fans might feel about it. For all we know, they might actually avoid the game because it's different. Plus, Madden's always been more popular on PS/XB, so the fan base might actually hate it just because it's different.

I honestly hope they don't think that way. I mean, the Wii actually forced EA to create something original, and that speaks volumes! If the game's good, it really does deserve our support and money.

I've been wondering if the game might not do well because Madden gamers don't really want to play football, but rather they want to play the television broadcast.  I don't really know, but the series has always appeared to me to put a heavy emphasis on emulating the feel of televised football.

I mentioned this game to a roommate who's into football, and he said something like that - that he thought that football gamers might start wondering, "Hey, why not just do this with a real football?" Of course, I've wondered that myself about sports games already.

I think the sheer novelty will draw people in, and the greater ease and intuitiveness will keep them playing. Butr that's me the optimist talking.

If NFL players love to play it, I think it goes without saying it's a game for people who love the NFL.

I am a Madden fan, and I'm excited to try this new control scheme.  The trash talking will be even more rampant because now your buddy will see your stiff arm take him out, or he'll actually witness you make that great catch over his cornerback.  Awesome!

It's Madden they'd pay $50 more if EA told them to.

Not that anyone's brought it up, it should be noted that this Madden is IMPOSSIBLE to learn if you are unfamiliar with either the sport of football or Madden games in general. I'm telling you this from FIRSTHAND experience.

Svevan > Really?!

I know very little of the sport (ES21 is what taught me the basics) and I have never played a Madden game, however I have played on my cousin's N64 NFL Blitz. Would that be enough to warrant my purchase?! It is. I'm a dedicated gamer. I will adapt to the controls, rules, etc. From the gameplay footage I've seen with the person shown controlling the game at the same time using PIP, I can say the game looks quite intuitive.

Now I could be wrong..but I'm still getting this game.

Intuitive or not, I had the EA rep practically giggling at my inability to play the game. And I'm darn good at playing games (kind of read: not really).

Edit: But if you stick with it, I'm sure you could learn it - I did only have 15 minutes.

I'm in no way a sports gamer, but I do like my share of a few of them from time to time.  I haven't played a NFL game since EA took the rights, ending NFL 2k series.  This might find its way into my budget though, the conern of the controls to me is relatively low compared to other game demonstrations or lack of.

Oh and I've always seen most sports games as somewhat of an rpg.  I mean usually u start from scratch and build and produce your team into a dynasty or whatever.  Sure its not all the same, its definately no Tales of Symphonia or ChronoTrigger, but there are some elements in it.  There definately is some strategy and decision making involved similar to rpgs.

.....I may have gotten into an area where Bill may stab me in the face but oh well.

I am a huge Nintendo and Madden NFL Football fan.  This game ranks 2nd in my list of launch title grabs after Twilight Princess.

The Madden series has been excellent as of late...and it hasn't even been confirmed whether or not online will be there or not.  IGN just mentions it as highly unlikely.  EA hasn't confirmed though...so there still may be a slight chance it can launch and go online.

They put up videos with controller inserts!

Check it out, shows how small wrist movements work instead of wild arm swings, also it just looks cool.

I cannot wait for this game.
