Use this thread to discuss PGC's latest special on great games that have been passed by on the good ol' GameCube.

Nice list except for Metroid. It sold over a million copies...

What time is it?  IS IT IWATA TIME?  No.  It's time to plug my gurnal

It's not exactly the same as PGC's article, but it shares a few same games.  It was my tribute to the GC's end.  Also I need to get Beach Spikers

Yeah, Echoes would have been a better choice because it sold quite poorly despite being superior to the original in many ways.

But did it sell two million in its first week?

THEN IT DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS.

List needs more Luigi's Mansion.

My advice? Dual Tommy Guns at the arctic fortress for Capture the Flag with three of your friends. You can thank me later.

I'll do you one better. Training Ground. Capture the flag. You and 3 friends vs. 12 monkeys.

Not only does it have fast-paced, action-packed gameplay, and not only does it have nice, er, assets (see above), but it’s got the multiplayer longevity that we all crave. This one’s an oldie, but if you’re able to locate it, pick it up, post haste!

I'm not so sure the game deserves all the praise you've been heaping on it. It has nice "assests", yes, but....well, I think ign laid down some of the serious gameplay issues best:

The fact that gamers cannot customize body type is disappointing, though; first, these are beautiful girls so of course everyone will want to have fun with that. More, with Team Ninja's Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball on the way to Xbox complete with bouncing breast physics and voluptuous players to boot, Sega might have been wise to allow for all of the customizations available in its game.

No Time Splitters Future Perfect? I mean, yeah its more of the same, but the controls are so much better. I'm not even sure why, I guess the aiming was a little funky in #2.

Wow the only two on there that I haven't played were Cubivore and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Everything else I actually have played and I own.

Some excellent choices, but I agree on Jungle Beat (not on Luigi's Mansion, but only because it was a launch game and everyone knew about it).  Awesome game.

Still thinking about getting Ikaruga, and I may get Beyond Good and Evil as well.  Depends on budgeting and all that.  Maybe after I purchase Wii, save them for a dry spell.
Anyway, good article.  I feel like more could have been said about them, but it was still good.  Maybe discussion will provoke a more thorough inspection of them.

I agree with those wondering why Metroid Prime hit the list considering it was one of the Cube's more mainstream titles and seems out of place here. I mean, if Prime hit it, why not Tales of Symphonia or a ton of other great games that are well known but all the same didn't fly off the shelves to become a million seller (although as others pointed out, Prime did)?

The only one I disagree with, though, is Pac Man Vs... a game that was a interesting multiplayer title, but not one that really lasted the test of time as me and my friends lost interest fairly quick and I'm sure we weren't the only ones. It's not really a title that begs to be revisited, and seeing as how it is solely a multiplayer title that's not all that great. Although if its selection was done, in part, due to price that I could understand.

Just finished Beyond Good and Evil last week. Loved it. NOT easy to find a copy for it for the Cube. They must have had a small printing.

I would also put P.N.03 on that list, although I seriously think I'm the only person who liked that game.

There's also Pikmin 2, which I don't think sold nearly as well as the first one, even though it's the superior game.

Finally, Prince of Persia: Sands o' Time.

P.N.03 was a good game, But in my mind way to short to be worth more then $15.

Beyond Good and Evil is a hard game to find on any system. Over the corse of a year I actually went out and bought it for every system. GameCube, PS2, Xbox and PC. That way if I have a friend who has never played it I can hand them a copy for whatever system they own.

I'm still playing Vudu's copy but I'm going to return it soon.  It was a good game and I wish Gamecrazy get one again so I can get my copy replaced because it never worked.

Skies of Arcadia

the reason it rocked so hard was that it wasn't angst-cyberfuture-look-at-me-I-am-a-psycho-and-need-attention RPG like all those at the time were obviously, we have to thank Square for that trend ¬¬

all in all, interesting list...so many I haven't played yet T_T

Great article.  You've talked me into picking up a couple of those titles on the list that were flying under my radar.  And sure made me wish I had a couple gbas laying around.

Chibi Robo is the first game that comes to mind that should be on that list.  My 2k6 game of the year.

Some folks might forget the 'Cube had Burnout 2 (or was that just me?) which was a great racing game especially with the Logitech SpeedForce Wheel.  ~$20 used at Gamestop.

NHL Hitz 2003 rocked.  Great pick up and play arcade hockey action.  Probably $6 used at Gamestop.

I really thought WarioWorld  was fun.  Graphics were crisp and the frame rate smooth.  No camera problems.  AT $50 it was short and not a good value, but now it's around $10 used and a great value.

I'll squeeze in Geist too.  Production values were decidedly mixed on this one, but something kept me going long enough to finish it.  I think the possession gameplay mechanic was new enough, and the story decent enough  to keep me playing.   Most typical shooters bore me because they are very repititious.  You won't have that problem with Geist.  It's not your typical shooter.  That's why at around $10 used it's worth checking out.

Wario World was mediocre. It's a better platformer than sunshine (because its camera doesn't suck as badly) but that doesn't say much.

My thoughts on the games I don't have:
Batallion Wars... Not sure, I don't like the Advance Wars games that much. Either way I'll wait until I see it price dropped at a local store. So far I've only seen it cheaper once in Bavaria.
Baten Kaitos sounds good to me but I'll wait for a price drop first. Not that I think that'll ever happen but I'm not paying 60€.
I've got enough multiplayer games and not enough friends to play them with so I don't need Beach Spikers.
Cubivore: Was that even released here?
Jungle Beat doesn't sound like 60€ worth of game either. If it weren't for the bongos I could probably get it cheaper.
I'd like to play Pacman Vs. but I'm not going to buy that POS R: Racing Evolution for it. Not that I've seen that in any store lately.
I don't like Soccer. Sorry, Sega.
Hulk sounds good and I think I've seen it cheap for the PS2.
Time Splitters 2 is available for the PS2 pretty cheap everywhere but Future Perfect doesn't cost much more...
