I guess you're right Hostile. Actually, he's masculine as an adult in OoT too if I think about it...

But god, SW2K Link is feminine, he really looks like a girl to me in some shots.

Link, like Peter Pan, has always been best cosplayed by girls. If guys try to do it we get Tingle. Koo-roo Lim-PAH!

BUT, this will all change with TP's new MANLY LINK!

Link is cuter in the TP concept art than he is the game.

I watched a pristine copy of the SW footage. A thousand times. Before YouTube was even invented. Sonny-boy.

The SW sword fight is a little better-looking than I remembered, but it's still blandness incarnite. A cut-scene of a sword fight between Ganon and girly-link? While impressive technically, I was pretty dissapointed when I first saw the footage. Let's face it, it'd look more at home in Soul Calibre than The Legend of Zelda...ironic that airraid put footage of the 2 side-by-side.

Twilight Princess, on the other hand, is a thing of beauty.

If I recall, the E3 2001 B-Roll had the SW demos, and it was on VHS.  Yay Low-Def!

Weren't you like fourteen in 2000?  Does that even count?

Just based off of looking at these screens, the Spaceworld one looks better. TP still looks like the business though
Currently Playing: Twilight Princess(Wii), Castlevania: PoR(DS), Mario vs. Donkey Kong2(DS), Wii sports(Wii)
Anticipating: Mario Galaxy(Wii), Blue Dragon(360), Dragon Quest:Swords(Wii), Dragon Quest IX (DS)

TP is far superior in both character design and overall atmosphere.

I personally like the higher saturation of the colors in the SW demo.  I also kinda like the more cartoony look.

I'm no fan of realism for realism's sake, but I find TP is a much more elaborate realization of the Zelda world. I see the SW demo as being a fight scene that just happens to feature a generic Link model and a generic Gannondorf model. Not to mention it also has that horrid plastic action figure look.

I didn't mean to imply that TP looks the way it does just "for realism's sake," if that's how I came off.  TP just seems to be the grittiest Zelda yet.

Man I was 15 when that video was shown, and I'm still waiting for it (laughter). It sure sent my imagination into a tizzy, even though it was a hastily-made 11-second tech demo.

I'm incredulous that anybody thinks the SW build looks better than TP!

For one thing that incredible anti-aliasing is probobly added on for the magazine promo the screens are lifted from. If it isn't and the anti-aliasing is actually in-"game" that's because the textures suck. On top of not being as technically impressive as the ones in TP, they also have close to no personality or direction. Like Hostile, I don't even see this as opinion or a point of debate. It's absolutely obvious.

That said, I'm unconvinced the polygon count is really higher even on the character models (the environment doesn't even look close to TP's so let's not bother). Everything looks pretty round, sure but there is a lack of three-dimensional detail as well (ex: Link has pouches and more detailed hair, two layers of clothing ect. . .) So I don't think that's an argument either.

I remember the SW one looking amazing when it was first shown (I'd have been 15) and when I opened this topic I thought that the SW one was gonna look better but before I scrolled down far enough to see the TP screens I was already shocked to see how much worse the SW ones were.

Really great reminder of just how bad-ass Twilight Princess looks.

If you see no way opinion can factor into this, then you and I are most definitely focusing on different aspects of the pics.

You really like the style of the SW demo more?

I just think it looks so. . .blah. And I do mean the uh. . . "art style".

Oh well. . . They're making the one I like better. Heh.

You wouldn't try to get TP Link to promise to marry you, is what you're saying? He doesn't make your scales sweat?

This Link is hot.
This Link is not.
So.  It depends on which TP Link you're refering to.

One would expect Link to lose his boyish charm, and more revealing wardrobe, on his innocence-destroying quest.

Poor Link. Destined to save the world all on his own, and remain forever single.

edit: oh, I see. Nevermind!
