Mario Kart Finished???
« on: March 04, 2003, 05:40:20 PM »
Ok, I'm trying to make sense of this but cant.  I cant post what I saw here so I'll give a link to the news.

Mario Karts and other stuff.

Now when there go down to the six paragraph and read what it says about Mario Kart and that its localisation for the U.S. is done.  What the heck?  Mario Kart is done?  Or am I just stupid and reading something wrong?

Its not just you Krazy.....I read a similar story and reached the same conclusion. From that story it would seem as if Mario Kart were finished and translated with Nintendo back its release. If this story is true one would have to wonder why Nintendo is holding off releasing a finished game. The only thing I could think of is that they want to wait until after Zelda's release to unleash Mario Kart or they want to save Mario Kart for e3.

i saw the same thing earlier today and came up with the same conclusion. hopfully its online or something. nintendo needs something online. and even if not many played it online, the positive psychological effects on the nintendo haters would help. i guess they want to hype up the game, and have it not interfere with zelda......but if thats the case, how long are they going to wait??? its seems like it would be dumb for them to release it during the summer.......which means they will probably wait for the holiday season.....meaning that we may have to wait as late as november for a game that is already finished........all i can say is that i better be great, and it better be online.

All this info came from the DICE Summit Roundtable. DICE Summit

Star Fox comment was Miyamoto wanted to due something like the bonus disk for Star Fox Advertures with Star Fox 64. The Star Fox 2 comment came from IGN (I think they asked that question). Miyamoto said he think about it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mario Kart was done. Mario Kart is Nintendo's big game for the holidays.

If in fact it is done, they probably are waiting for Wind Waker to come first, so it doesn't interfere with the hype.  As many of you said, this probably is the case.

Accually if it is done, they would have to start some type of hype for it. You just don't go and release a game cold turkey like that no one would know it out their and sales will never really have pick up to it. First you show it to news services so they can hype it for you. So they are more than likely waiting until E3 to show it then they will not release it until one or two months afterward. (That is if its done.)
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

yea i think they will first reveal it at e3 and then just hype it up from there.

From what i heard in the DICE roundtable discussion what was said was that they had finished recording the voices for the US release. This doesn't mean that the localisation is done. It also doesn't mean that the game is finished.

Just because the localisation is finished doens't really mean that the game is done.  It just means that they have all the menues and art translated into english.  You can have all that done and still have a whole lot of game to make.  That said, I hope it is near finished.  If it is done/near done now, and Nintendo waits tell fall to release it I would hope they would take the time to add Online Play to it.  No sence in waisting a whole 6 months.

if its finished, that means nintendo might be coding it, for all area's
which could mean a world wide release straight away
if this was true, over the night million dollar advertising and release would hit sony and microsoft were it hurts
instead of them preparing to rival the release
