Preorder, midnight sale, or just wait???
« on: September 14, 2006, 10:28:11 AM »
Curious what people will be doing now.

I'm in a toss up, due to a vacation starting on the 19th. Not sure if I should find a midnight sale, or preorder so it's waiting for me when I get home....waiting is NOT an option for me.

Pre-order. I've never seen the appeal of waiting in lines for hours. I've nothing against it, but it holds no special appeal for me at all!

Midnight madness!  (Unless GameStop just happens to have a bundle with nothing but games I want and no crappy third party accessories.)
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It's possible that the release date will be broken a day or two prior. Always seems to.

I'll do an online pre-order here. My Cube showed up on the Friday before GCN's launch.

I'll do the same thing I have done for 15 years-wait in line on launch day.  It's kind of fun too.

Since I have Target and Best Buy gift cards to expend, hopefully they both will have midnight openings. If there's some massive snowstorm of Wii excitement in the next month, I'll preorder. Hmm I wonder if there is going to be a Zelda preorder bonus

Either wait or get one for the holidays. I can't afford anything right now so getting a Wii at launch is out of the question.

I don't know at this point. It depends on what kinds of bundles retailers have. I hope Amazon gets off its ass and makes pre-order available soon.

If I can afford it I'll preorder one, unless a local store has a midnight thingy. We'll have to wait and see. All depends on my bank account.

I work for a place that'll be selling them. I'll try to get mine on my double employee discount day or when there's an applicable coupon.

So I guess I'm waiting for when I can get the best deal. In any case, I'll have it by the end of the year.

Same. Did it for the GCN and the DS, so the plan is to do the same for the Wii.

It's possible. I might have gotten lucky since it was shipped on Thursday and arrived on Friday because I was in the same state that EBGames.com shipped from. If the distance were any greater, I might have had to wait until Monday.

But stores were breaking the date anyway...  I don't think it'll be terribly difficult to get a hold of one. Worst case scenario is you go to a Walmart or another 24hr store before midnight on the 18th. Best case scenario, the date is broken on Friday and you have a weekend of opportunity before you leave.

To students, I recommend planning a 24 hour virus NOW on the 17th, to beat the after-school rush.

Lottery system is bullsh!t.  It should be first-come-first-serve.

Probably pre-ordering, if I put down $50 I get a free game (although  they haven't said which games are available in this deal).

Preorder with Red Steel and see what else ACTUALLY makes it to launch.

There's a lot of time between then and now (and I'll be borrowing Zelda from a friend at some point).

With the disappointing package and price, I'll take a pass on the Wii for about half of a year. I just got the DS and it will keep me occupy for a while. Hopefully there are enough early adopters out there to make it a success without me and that the Wii will still be around six months later.  I'll wait for the official review of Zelda for GC and Wii before actually getting it for the GC or wait 6 months later and play with the Wii. The launch date seems a little late (most promotional events seemed to hint at a late November launch), which puts my purchase around March 07 at the earliest. Again, I'm a bit disappointed with the price and package, but I am excited to try it out in stores or where ever its demoed in the next few weeks.
