So you think Nintendo is going to say "Our bargain bin Wii is 199.  That's the one you've been seeing, but if you want the real system, here it is... for 599!"

I dunno about that.

Seriously, could a mod do me a favor and ban Big_brother? He's out of control and he's mean and his new avatar makes Dasmos's old one look good by comparison.

Are you sure you want me banned, wandering?

I'd hate to have to start posting under your account.

Well after today's PS3 news (see the Other Systems topic for that discussion) the Sept 14/15 events were just guaranteed more attention.

Sony's cards are pretty much all on the table now. No more excuses, Ninty. Droppen zal bomb.

Ha.  This would be really funny, if Nintendo was able to announce next week launching in October.

Hell, this announcement could allow Nintendo (IF games were ready) to launch in the US first alone in October, then November in Japan, and December in Europe.

Imagine: Mid October having 1 million Units available for us.
Mid November having 1.5 million Units available for Japan.
Early December having about 1 million Units available for Europe.

An additional shipment could be sent to each market before the end of the holiday season.

This strategy could totally neuter PS3s launch excitement, and more importantly software sales.

And it's happening, too. I know it is. I think it is. I hope it is.

That's right, wandering.

anybody know what time this event is supposed to be?? and should we be getting info from the Japan one before the one here in the States, or will we have to wait until the one in Europe is over before everything comes out??

Don't know the times, but I'm sure the news will leak almost as fast as it happens, in all regions.  Japan first since they are 13-16 hours ahead of U.S.

Especially with the kiosks expected to not show up in stores until late October/early November.  I would think they'd want the kiosks in stores before the system is on sale right?

I dunno I was in charge of our Xbox 360 launch and if memory serves me right we recieved the kiosk a few days prior to launch day and I set it up the morning of.  So that would be telling us once again a late october early November release.

They are probably being vague on purpose. If they said:
"We are going to deliver the kiosk on the 28'th of October. You should probably have it set up that night, don't wait for the morning...You should probably vacuum your store as well, make it all pretty looking. Oh, and move all large objects away from you front counter, enough to make room for a huge line of customers, no reason. Is your store open the next day, that's entirely coincidentally a Sunday right? You should probably open up even if you have religious reasons, no reason, who said there was a reason, I didn't say there was a reason........28'th"

Then people might suspect foul play is afoot.

Ah, you could still close your store for religious reasons (or just plain leisure reasons) on Sunday, it's not like there wouldn't be a huge lineup of people on Monday, grateful they get a second chance to witness the awesomeness of Wii.

Edit: Hey, this isn't the launch date wild predictions thread! I'm moving my predictions on over!

Geeze people all this hype over nothing.  The press conference is probably just going to be Nintendo saying that they received the shipment of IBM chips via FedEx Wednesday Evening.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.
