8/23/06 Games Convention / Messe Leipzig
10:15, Nintendo Booth, Hall 5, F01

Be there when a new chapter is turned in the history of gaming. Dive into the world of Wii and make yourself a picture of the animated future of gaming.

Games that will touch generations.

Wii and where?

At the press show of the Games Convention, to which we hereby invite you cordially.

"Wii Prove our Promise" is the title of the keynote speech that Nintendo is presenting. Let's hope they deliver. Here are a few predictions..

1) The big guns will show up. I'm talking about Namco and Capcom, of course.. They have been surprisingly quiet when it comes to the Wii, and hopefully some of their projects will be revealed. Resident Evil? Okami? A new IP from one of them? Hopefully, Konami and SEGA have something ready too, but I'm not as hopeful about them.

2) Launch dates and price will be revealed. It seems like the perfect time, and Nintendo doesn't want these price rumours to keep going; it's better to stop them in their tracks.

3) WiFi/Virtual Console announcements. These had better be good - Wii's online plans haven't really been revealed, and there isn't much support for them yet.

4) There is a separate event scheduled involving EA and Nintendo. They're sure to show off some new Wii games for their franchises.

Any other speculation?

I think Reggie is going to collectively slap the world with his mighty penis.

I must find a way to use "burninate" more in my daily speech.

Personally I think that the launch date/price will be kept for another time (I would be estatic if I'm wrong but I'm not putting much hope into them releasing the details). Besides that here is what I think will happen:

1. 3 new exclusive Wii games (1 from Nintendo and perhaps two others from from another company(s))
2. More details on the Virtual Console
3.  More knowledge of what will be coming out at launch and what will be launch window

Nintendo will finally tell us about Wii online play / interface. Including games that were previously under wraps because they emphasise an online environment.

I believe Nintendo will tell us at LEAST one of these two things:  Price or Release Date.  I am betting they tell us everything, but I can easily see Nintendo showing how they are keeping their promises and then at the end of the speech: "And you can play our promises this holiday season, for only $175 or something."

I also believe Nintendo will be showing off its online structure.  Releasing information how it works, what they have planned for it and what not.  Finally, I believe Nintendo will be showing off more games...hopefully Mario Galaxy will be ready for launch or close to it.

    1. Date and Release price and number of units every company is getting within the week.  (They need Pre-orders to start)
    2. New games.
    3. VC Details from elaborate to just showing a person buying a game.
    4. Wii World Tour announced.
    5. Reggie busteds in on his See Monster to dominate the unbeleivers in Europe.
    6. EA is going to show Madden.  Reggie or Europes Reggie equivalent is going to be playing Madden and showing it off.
    7. Perrin Kaplan Sacrificed for Wii's success.
    8. Rayman Demo during keynote.

That's my Brainstorming on the event.  1,2,3,6 I'm sure pretty sure will happen

I still think the price and release date will be saved for TGS, and hopefully we get a few cool game announcements this week...

I pray that Nintendo will put an end to speculation on release dates and pricing.  It's only 2-3 months to launch, I'd think they could come up with a reasonable estimate by now.

I also hope we'll see some more of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.  I'm really interested in both games, but both seem to be under wraps.  Are these really going to be ready for launch?  Maybe in Japan, but what about here?

And hopefully there will be a couple of new games as well.  I know Nintendo is working on Wii Motorsports, maybe we'll get a look at the jet ski mode.  New games from Namco or Capcom would be great too.

These are just the things I want to see and hear.  As for what I think Nintendo will actually say, I think it will reveal a few of the things I've mentioned, but the only thing I'm sure Nintendo will talk about is online and WiiConnect24.  There might also be another secret behind the console or the controller.  All of that would be nice, but to me it's just icing on the cake.  I'm already sold on Wii, I want concrete details on the games and the machine now.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Sounds like "When and where?"  If anything hints at a revelation of launch details, it's this line.

I hope they spill the beans about this already...

If nothing else, the sheer amount of speculation which happens in the absence of information will start getting people hyped for false information and that's never a good thing.

I want details on the online system.. surely the backlash they've recieved about the Friend Code nonsense has gotten them to reconsider. I just want to be able to talk to the people I'm playing against and be able to add friends on the fly.

They're going to show off a driving/battle game called Wiidge Racer where you drive around hitting giant crabs for massive damage, this will be the only Wii game not to use the rumble feature.

Although I very much hope Nintendo drops final details tomorrow, I still think TGS will be the event where Nintendo unveils all. If October 2nd is in fact Wii's EMERGENCE DAY, however, then we might learn details tomorrow. But if it's late October/early November like I suspect, then we'll be waiting for TGS.
