AniMatrix rocks hard. Being on dial up, there was no way in hell I could get it, but lucky I have cable friends =D
The animations not quite up to what I expecting though, it's nice, but still not as fluid as I would have thought.

Hehe...I'm assuming it was supposed to be a stream, but Download Accelerator dled it for me anyway. 90megs on dial-up- and totally worth the wait. That's the medium version, mind you. I can't wait till they put up Part II; I check the site everyday for it.

i thought it was gorgeous, they are gonna use diffrent animators for each part, probably to help it be free. But i just couldnt believe at all how good it was. I mean it is very plausible isn't. I can't wait either. It is gonna come to DVD. I really want to get it.

The animation was a bit rough cause it was an anime. And as far as I know, the animation in mangas aren't like smooth like the Disney and Dreamworks ones, since they use the aid of computers.
I got the small version cause I have dial-up too. And Download Accelerator helped immensely. I can't view the medium or lage ones cause their just too big for my computer to handle in terms of screen size, and downloading it would be a pain in the ass.
GEt the small version, then just play it double-screen of full-screen.

If you want good animations for animatrix, just watch the preview "Final Flight of Osiris" on IGN.

Hmm...worth mentioning- this has nothing to do with the second renaissaince. After you watch it though, you understand the true meaning of the title. I won't say more here- you'll just have to see it for yourself

The new Stephen King movie "Dreamcatcher" will have a Matrix short that sounds a lot like "Final Flight of Osiris" play before the actual movie starts. I saw the commercial for "Dreamcatcher" about an hour ago, and remember the word "Osiris" mentioned and saw it too.

I finally got to watch the clip(program), my sound was broke. Man it totally amazed me again. It just goes to show how REAL they can make the matrix appear. It infected her mind even when she left. That is some power. She believed she was in the matrix, not in a sim, and that that person was someone she knew for so long, when he wasn't even real. It like leaves goose-bumps. Tottaly reminds you how we really truly could be living a lie. We can doubt even our own memories. I was so happy watchin it.

Detective Story is awesome. I like the way it looks, sounds and is set out like an old Humphrey Bogart black and white movie, and then they have these 'old style' computers. Those computers are cool.

I can't wait till Second Rennaissance Part II.
I saw Dreamcatcher just for Final Flight of the Osiris, and it is FU*KING AWESOME! Pity about the film though.

I am DEFINITELY getting The Animatrix on DVD. I need the other 4 episodes now!

Hopefully they'll bundle the Animatrix with the three Matrix movies when they all make it to DVD. That would be sweet - the definitive Matrix collection. Mmmm.

Part four, The Second Renaissance: Part II was released today, but I'm still dling it(as fast as dsl is, it tops out at 80kb/sec)....will update post later with impressions...

This one was a bit weirder than the rest of them, not as uh...coherent I guess. But still, we do find out about how we blocked out the sky, and how the first humans were imprisoned- not a pretty sight indeed. Oh, and get Part I before this one, because or else its like watching half a movie. As for Final Flight of Osiris- Dreamcatcher is prob. playing in NYC, but I'm not gonna go between all the other crap I have to do. I'm just gonna wait a month and rent the DVD- or buy if need be, considering the uh...'nicheness' of the title.

Actually, now a days, there is hardly any animation companies that do not use computers with their work. The differance with Anime from Animation from the Americas, is that they animate less frames than in North American Animation, to save on time and budget. Take notice on how many still shots they use for 5 seconds or so or how one whole scene doesn't move except one or two things in it. Perfec examples of this being carried out, is Cartoons like Salior Moon and Dragon Ball Z, etc. Notice how they like to recycle a lot of scenes over and over again.

Also the fact that you'll see in a fight sequince that when they pause to catch their breath, the majority of the time, they just stand there and they only have like 3 or 4 frames repeated for them to breath. While in Canadian and US Cartoons, the style is differant, where almost every frame is animated.

I'm not bashing Anime at all, mind you, infact there are some really good ones out there, like Blood: The Last Vampire, Ninja Scroll, or Macross Plus, etc. Anime Movies are done well, however, the daily cartoons, are spit out in a real crappy quality.

It's true that in certain types of anime there's "staring" sequences, although the lack of animation is often offset by increased tension and anticipation for something to happen. Three or four frames for breathing animation is still animation. Also, anime that's been translated for North American television often gets edited heavily. A lot of times stills are used to hide the fact that scenes were cut.

The problem with using computers is that well, you know they are using computers and the film just does not alive. Like toystory with a different art direction. DBZ is a bad example, it is not that good in the first place and english versions are barsidtiased to the point they are really ont that watchable. Anime is more of an art that that of disney/american style animation. It is like original Starwars Vs new starwars technically new starwars is better, but it failed to use it's technical advantage to convey emotion, while original starwars made each scene count. therefore original SW had more impact.

Very cool.
And man, couldn't the humans have just used a big EMP blast - Goldeneye style?
That would have been more worth investing money than those stupid, bulky suits and the sky-destroying bombs.
Osiris was a very good epilogue to The Matrix Reloaded. I thought the old lady she meets at the post box was gonna turn into an agent, but the way she died was good enough. She was hot. She was also the one that warns everyone that the machines are digging down to Zion. Very well done.

I've see the whole thing on SVCDs already and it's a really nice set of shorts. The one by Studio IG (the team doing the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series) is my favorite, I think it was called Beyond.
