Hmmm....not really.
I was thinking of a game more like Sadness than anything. A game where you can use any object you might need, be it a branch or compass. It would be ultra-realistic in the sense that you would have to use the objects around you to solve puzzles.
For example, on your journey you find an abandoned house on a lake. You find out that you need to quickly get to the other side. Fortunetly, this house has a boat house. Peering in a window, you can see the boat.....chillen. You go to side door to open it, only to find out it's locked --
Because of the way the game is made, you have a couple options. You can either bust the lock with the crow-bar you saw in the house, or you can grab a stick and bust the window out. Each option works, but one maybe a wiser decision (climbing through a broken window may be detremental to your health).
The story that pushes the game along could be rather simple. Let's say the earth has be ravaged by some virus that turns people into vampiric maniacs. You hear on the radio that there is a safe house 30 miles west of you. Excluding the puzzles, the only problem you have that stops your progression is -- the night time. You see, strange things come out at night and if your not well prepared you could die.
On another note - there would be no HUD.
