Opera Browser for the DS (with dates)
« on: July 18, 2006, 10:23:27 AM »
They've announced the dates that the Opera Browser for the DS will be available.

July 24th for Japan, and October 6th for Europe and the US.

The Opera browser for Nintendo DS will be sold as an optional DS card. Users simply insert the card into the Wi-Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens.

Welcome to PGC.  Go say hello to everyone at the Newbie Check-in.

Your avatar is too large.  It can only be a maximum of 100 x 100 pixels and no more than 20 kb.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Oops, fixed.  Thanks for the heads up.  I'll stop by and say hi on the forums.

I found a video that shows what the browser is like, but it is in Japanese.  However, it is a good visual demonstration of what the browser will be able to do.

It also apparently comes with a memory cartridge for the GBA slot.

Here is a 7 minute Opera for DSL demonstration

Looks nice, but is it worth $40?
Can you stand the 1 to 3 minute load times(depends on the site)
were you hoping for AIM, MSN or Yahoo messengers? If it supported messengers then this would instantly be another million seller for DS. I wonder if it will load Myspace, that could be the major push that it would need in the U.S. hit mass market explosion.

Can you use AIM Express on it?

He said he couldn't.  I didn't see the chat function built into Gmail either.  I'm sure there has to be a way to do it though....

I can't get gmail to work right with regular Opera so I wouldn't put to much stock in that.
