Nintendo needs to ressurrect Stunt Race FX

srsly.

Stunt Race FX was probably my favorite racing game until Mario Kart 64. It would be sweet if they brought it back.

Ah, yes.  One of those "one shot" Nintendo would-be franchises.

Excite Truck doesn't excite you as much?

I guess Stunt Race FX was cool.  Maybe it was the boppy music.  But what would they have now?  The big thing about it was it was 3D polygonal truck/car/bike racing on the Super NES.  Now that every racing game IS in 3D...

actually, Excite Truck would excite me more if it was Stunt Race FX.  The problem for me is that it's Excite BIKE.  I'm not sure why they felt th eneed to change it.  Though you're right about Stunt Race FX not having the 3D sparkling innovation anymore.  They still have eyes, though.  Eyes!
That's my opinion, not yours.

They should turn it into a beach volleyball game, I recall a car that was meant to be female in the original, whack her in a bikini. HOT. Call it Stunt Race FUX for an edgy 'can they really call it that' name.

I loved Stunt Race FX at the time but it's pretty dated now.  The whole appeal was that it was a 3D game back when every racing game was on a flat mode 7 track.  Hills and jumps were part of Stunt Race FX's appeal.  Well now none of that is a big deal so there's really no point in reviving it.  Star Fox benefited from being a rare 3D game too but it actually is exceptional by 3D shooter standards.  Stunt Race FX is now just average.

I do like the idea of Nintendo making racing games besides Mario Kart and F-Zero which is why I'm quite interested in Excite Truck.  Nintendo doesn't normally make car racing games and I like that they're working with a genre they haven't done much with.  We've had tons of "alternative" Nintendo racing games so let's get some more "normal" ones.

I owned this game...and I have mixed feeling about it.

For its time it was a pretty interesting racer, and the characters/vehicles were fun.

However, the controls and "feel" of the racing was too loose, and I believe the game was too slow.

It was almost like Nintendo just wanted to get a polygon racer out for SNES to compete with what Sega was doing at the time...and It wasn't as polished as it should have been.

Should it be resurrected?  It could be, but I don't see it becoming anything different or more special than any of the other racing games Nintendo could make.

They already have:

Wave Race: Water Racing
1080: Snow Boarding
F-Zero: Futuristic Racing
Mario Kart: Multiplayer Combat Racing
and Wii is introducing:
Excite Truck: Arcade style Racing.

Nintendo really doesn't need to use valuable resources to resurrect a game that couldn't be made using another already existing and more popular series.

Actually, a spruced up Stunt Race FX would work well for the DS, as 3D games are still not the norm for it.

For DS, I actually believe Stunt Racer FX would be a great companion.  You could edit your car, creating a unique face and character...turning your racer into a true persona of you.  Race online, and much more.

The thing Stunt Race has for it is that it has already broken the rules on the cars.  They are living things, akin to Pixar's "Cars", so they can take that aspect into limitless directions.  The cars can now have attitudes and move or behave in ways you havent seen in most car games.

I can see plenty of potential.

I'd like to mention that Stunt Race FX had a great, 18 wheeler bonus rounds...
IIRC, It also had the boost/power meter combination
Even had a RC minigame of sorts

And I agree with Edfishy, the cars had "personalities" that you can exploit to make any potential sequel different from the typical racer.

I still have the Stunt Race FX cart.  I should boot it up, but I remember the game being slow paced and the controls a bit unresponsive.  Music and play experience was unique though.

It was fun, but after a while I just got tired of losing to the F1 car. Overpowered!

Edit: And now I'm remembering another FX chip stunt racer, but it was on bikes....it was kinda cheap on presentation value, but I had a lot of fun with it. Anyone remeber the name of it?

What he said. I wasn't necessarily talking about Wii.

Dirt Trax FX springs to my mind for some reason.  I'm not sure if that's the name, but it must mean something.  Memory is a funny thing.

That would be the one. Getting the hang of turning was difficult, but it was mostly fun, and a few unique tracks too.
