Ha ha ha ha... So Japan is more interested in a unstated Resident Evil game for Wii then they are RE5? Oh man, that's just classic.

Capcom, are you listening?

When I read the title I interpreted "6 of 10" as "6 out of 10" like that was the score Famitsu gave the Wii.  This is obviously much more encouraging.

It's very interesting that Zelda is on top.  In North America the Wii version of Zelda seems to be one of the least popular Wii games at E3.

Sony is so f*cked because of that price, but we already knew that, didn't we?

What I find "interesting" is that the Sword DQ game ranked higher than Brawl... what gives?

Maybe because the Japanese are smarter than americans and they are willing to give the final game a TRY before passing judgement... :p

Anyways, this is indeed pretty encouraging. Hopefully this great vibe is at the Wii launch and beyond...

The issues with Zelda seem to be a result of the learning curve associated with the game, and the fact that the conditions at E3 doesn't give most people a chance to master the controls, after listening to a few dozen E3 podcasts it sounds like the impressions of people who seemed to get the hang of the controls fast are seemingly more positive than those who had trouble with them.

It's Dragon Quest.  What do you expect?  They could release "Dragon Quest Rapes Your Mother", charge $10000 for it, and it still would sell at least a million copies in Japan.

I know this is a taboo subject, but I didn't think it looked great either - not outright bad but it really didn't wow me. Fetch the torches and pitchforks but I thought Wind Waker actually looked nicer - I prefered the cell shading with good art direction and technically well implemented of WW over fairly generic 'realistic' graphics with depressingly low polygon count and unconvincing texturing in the E3 Zelda demo.

I'm not referring to the graphics, i'm referring to the gameplay

In fact the graphics in the E3 demo are not indicative of the game graphics

Do you mean it doesn't look great by Wii standards or just not that great period?  As a Cube game I think it looks fantastic but as a next gen game it looks kind of weak.

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I meant to say that in addition to the control issues that you mentioned, I thought it also didn't look very good either.

I think that's an open question but I guess we'll have to see how it pans out - I hope they're better. I can live with it if they're not but I'll be disappointed.

From a technology point of view - yes I think it's probably pushing GC hardware about as far as it'll go and it's impressive for that. Also, yes, I don't think it's anything like what I'd expect from a 'next gen' system.

On top of that, I'm not keen on the style, but if that's what a Zelda game is supposed to look like and that's what fans of the francise want then I wouldn't want Nintendo to do it differently - it's just not my bag, aesthetically speaking.

[EDIT:] Also, I'm pretty resigned to Wii graphics not being technically great but some of the stuff at E3 was still artistically very nice - for example I thought Super Mario Galaxy looked great

The graphics are an improvment... but personally I actually like the idea of the desolate wasteland more than the kind of "cyber" look it has now.

The second panel of 'What a difference a delay makes' looks much nicer than the E3 demo - it seems to have a bit of style to it. The E3 stuff just looked very generic. Are those shots bona fide?

The E3 Demo doesn't look like that, the E3 demo is based off the older graphics.

like I said, the graphics will look fine, people whine too much when Nintendo does anything, but it almost always turns out fine, with Ninty you just have to go with the flow.

Your forgetting one thing -- That's the Twilight Realm. They decided to go with a blurred lighting effect rather than Black and White. As for the rest of the game, the E3 demo is what the game will look like, and I couldn't be more pleased.

The fishing part is amazing! Check out the vids if you haven't already!

If you want style, your going to have to wait till the game releases. There are sure to be many a beautiful scene in TP.

The game looks fantastic for any gen you want, I love the art style and thats whats more important for me, not detailed textures or polygon count.

What is shocking is that Zelda won over FF13, thats huge.

The style is a matter of taste, and I like the Twilight Realm but not the regular stuff but that's cool - I'm not a huge Zelda fan anyway so it's not aimed at me and there's plenty of other stuff coming that I will like.

I'm a bit more concerned about the technical quality of the graphics but it's not final hardware and, at the end of the day, I guess graphics aren't everything - I don't want what the competing consoles have to offer, whatever it looks like - I just don't think I'd actually enjoy playing it.

Sometimes polygon count and texture detail *are* important, if they prevent the artists from showing what they want you to see without the means of showing it being visible and distracting. I find that clean and stylised stuff works better for me because it hides any underlying flaws in the graphics capabilities of the machine. The more realistic the art tries to be, the more it reveals inadequacies in the graphics implementation. I think the non-Twilight Realm stuff falls down a bit in this respect, whereas the Twilight Realm is much more successful.
