Well, in LucasArts' defense, this game was already meant for the next-gen systems and meant as a show case for some cutting edge physics and animation technology before Nintendo COMPLETELY changed the course of that river.

I think LucasArts deserves to be commended for taking the risk to port this sure-to-be-difficult next-gen project to the Wii. Maybe after they get this "caught-with-their-pants-down" dinosaur of a project out of the way, they can develop that pure Wii lightsaber game we all want with the knowledge learned from this one!

WTF Lucas Arts? I thought an exclusive, pure original Wii lightsaber game was in the works, not a port with Wii controls.

Blah.

Business wise, it's better to port an existing project now as a learning experience than to go whole hog right off the bat. Not to mention that this project is probably costing them millions upon millions of capital anyways like a typical next-gen product. They may not have the agility or resources to start a new project right now.

Blah.

It really isn't a port, since it has an exclusive mode for the Wii. For all we know this duel mode could be quite complete and be almost a game all to itself when it comes to replyability.

I think this is a case where cautious optimism is the way to go. We haven't even seen a screenshot yet, let alone a playable demo, so let's not rush to judgment.

I dunno.... Spring 2008 is horrendously little time for them to repel firepower of this magnitude.

And two thumbs up for the new avatar, insanolord .

Thanks. I figured if I'm going to be demanding an Escape Velocity for the DS I might as well go all out for it. I know it will never happen, but I can dream.  And the Starbridge, while the icon of the game, looks cool and is a great balance between cargo capacity and firepower without sacrificing the speed like you would if you captured an IDA Frigate (as if that's possible at that point in the game).

I liked Isaac better. I think the blond hair suits your forum personality (don't try to read between the lines, there is no hidden meaning there.) But your current avatar also has blond hair. So what is it?!

Also, one-to-one lightsabers will be impossible unless the Wii knows where the remote is in 3D space, and exactly how it is oriented. Also, they need to get the remote to figure out what the 'home' position is at all time to avoid drift and such (for example, if the player moves around while playing).

How it's oriented shouldn't be too much of a problem, play Kororinpa if you doubt how sensitive and accurate the sensors in the Wiimote are. The where is something else altogether, they'd probably just have to make a guess based on the movement. This is a concept for a Wii game I've wanted to see for a long time and Lucasarts is a quality developer. All we can do at this point is hope.

I thought the point of the game was to play with Force powers in the always popular Star Wars universe, but I suppose I have no choice but to concede to your superior use of caps lock.  The good news is I already have Rocket: Robot on Wheels, so I don't need to buy this game after all.

Issac was my favorite as well so far, I shall have to ponder and think up an avatar that can top it . . .

Having a new game mode doesn't make it not a port. RE4 for PS2 had new content, but it was still a port.

A true port is basically taking the same game content and moving the game over to another system. RE4 for PS2 really wasn't a port either because it added new content, the same applies to the Ninja Gaiden games. Maybe you can call them partial ports, but to lump something with new game modes or contents in with games that add nothing new just does not work, you need a term for a game that is partially ported but also adds new things.

The Wii version is being created by the same developer behind the PS2 and PSP versions, unlike the PS3 and 360 versions... so all signs point to yes.

Anyway, I'm in the same boat as Ian. I'm sick of developers half assing it on the Wii, and everything about this release seems half assed. I mean, Lucasarts isn't even doing the Wii version themselves, they are focused on the PS3 and 360 iterations while they passed on the Wii draft to the guys behind Spyro's New Beginning. Basically, I have no real faith in this Wii version from what we know so far, which isn't much but enough to give a general gist of how they are treating that version of the game.

Krome Studios are a fantastic dev and very good at taking advantage of different hardware. They are the only reason i'm even interested in this game.

Gueass who invented Spyro the Dragon? Insomniac Games, makers of Rachet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Resistance Fall of Man for the PS3. Naughty Dog is widely regarded as a gem in Sony's third party crown even though they really got their first big break with Crash Bandicoot. I don't see why Krome studios should be looked down on for having the biggest game they've been attached to so far being Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, they could be your prototypical great developer just waiting for someone to notice them enough to give them the budget they need to deliver on their dreams.
