This is OT, but did Microsoft adopt the word "dashboard" for the Xbox, or was this previously used in some tech lingo? I'd never heard it till Live launched, and now it seems to be used to refer to any system's system menu. dashbroad=car=powa=xtreme lifestyle

I bet the speaker will suck regardless of where it comes from. First Rev mod for me.

WTF Bumpzilla?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

The last time I made posts about games that already existed on the forums they all got locked up and pointed to pre-existing forums so....yeah.

I read somewhere that said while demoing Lego Star Wars, a rep said that if we were lucky, we'd hear more about the elusive ACTUAL lightsaber game this fall.

Great to see this game come to Wii, not to mention that Lucas opens up the possibility of people buying TWO versions. The graphically superior, and perhaps better controlling (though that is questionable) Xbox 360 or PS3 version, along with the Wii version with a special dual mode. Here is hoping for some brilliant uses of the Wiimote!

I was definitely not expecting this.  There was mention of a possible Wii version in some coverage of TFU I read somewhere, but it was explicitly stated that it would not be the lightsaber game everyone wanted.  I hope the Wii version includes motion-controlled Force powers, too.  It would seem like a waste not to (and there probably aren't enough buttons for the game otherwise).

It's being developed by the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger studio, which isn't quite as confidence-boosting as I would like.

Yay, another game that's 360 and PS3 for a reason being brought to the Wii in an extremely dumbed down format, with sh!tty lightsaber controls tacked on.

The game is also coming to the PS2 and DS, and can we at least wait until we get a single preview before saying the game is dumbed down or the controls are horrible?

Yeah... is this going to be a rushed port? Or will this studio really be able to handle this stuff?

SPOILERS: They won't. Force Unleashed is 90% about having awesome Force powers and throwing sh!t around with them. Simply put, the Wii CAN'T handle the physics processing that they are relying on for making this game awesome (neither can PS2 or DS, I think both those are stupid too).

Who cares?  The physics in Jedi Knight 2 were good enough for me already.  As long as I can use Force Grip to grab some guy and bash his head into the ceiling, I'll be happy.

Except the physics are what the ENTIRE GODDAMN GAME is based around.

I would think if the whole point of the Wii version is the lightsaber combat they might focus more on that and less on the physics. You're assuming that they're trying to do the exact same missions with the exact same objectives except on the Wii. Did it ever occur to you that they may be following the same story from a different angle? Lucasarts isn't known for shoddy work, and even if the Wii game is just a modified PS2 game wouldn't they have made similar modifications to the PS2 game due to its hardware inadequacies?

I think Nintendo needs to send a memo to third parties reminding them that the Wii is the f*cking market leader.  We should be well past the stage of getting enhanced ports.  A Star Wars lightsaber game for the Wii should be an original title.  I think it's good to get multiplatform games (it was frustrating to see the Cube always get left out) but the remote is never going to anything but a nifty specialty controller if all the third party games started off on a different controller.  I know it's unpopular to label the remote as a g!mmick but that's what third parties are treating it as and that needs to stop.  The remote is used as a sales g!mmick to try to spice up a port of an older game or create a second version of the same game or to be used for spin-off titles of popular IPs.  It should be used for more than that.  Third parties should be making their major titles on the Wii.  Metroid Prime 3 proves that it can be done.

The attitude seems to be less "how can we use motion control to make a great game" and more "how can we use the novel appeal of motion control to mask a lazy low-budget release".  God I hope Nintendo's upcoming lineup crushes everything in sales and raises the bar.  I want the Wii userbase to get used to higher quality and start expecting better and stop buying crap.  The system sales are high enough that we can afford to have better taste without scaring away all the third parties.

I'm hoping it's not going to be a ps2 port, they need to build the game from scratch, for wii, especially since wii is going to have some trouble with the physics of it all.
