Upon second glance, it appears that the "27 titles" quote was kind of cheap from Nintendo. All those WiiSports games are being counted separately, and a couple of those things don't appear to be actual games. (I suppose those first three are pershaps built into the Wii?)

However, it is really great to see WiiMusic, Sonic, Necro Nesia, SD Gundam, One Piece, and Bombermanland ready to play. Could be launch titles.

Meanwhile, the absense of Square Enix tells me that they WON'T, in fact, be launch titles.

if you compress the demo and sports we're still over 20 which is great.  you knew there had to be a catch there somewhere

Ninendo's like a politician.  They don't lie, they just have a completely different interpretation of the truth than anyone else.

In total I count seven for-sure first party games that are real games and not potential tech demoes.  That should give us an idea of the launch lineup.  Red Steel I think is for sure but that's third party.  WiiSports and Zelda are confirmed.  I think they need Mario in there.  There needs to be a flagship title and a Gamecube game, even if it is Zelda, isn't going to cut it.  I wouldn't buy a Wii at launch just to play a Cube game with different controls.

I think mp3 + zelda would be an excellent launch.  further - if they launch the rev sept. (unlikely) they could release Mario by Christmas and generate a huge second wave of buzz with it.  That would be my preferred scenario.  Likely, we will see a skimpy launch with Zelda/Sports + some 3rd parties going through Christmas and Mario will be delayed until q1 07.

I'd say that that list is pretty much your launch lineup, minus Metroid.

Looks like enough interesting stuff to me to easily justify purchasing a Wii on launch - especially if it's cheap. Heaven knows when it'll make it over to the barren wilderness that is the UK though...

Am i the only one who doesn't know what Necro Nesia is? the preview was like 2 seconds in the Nintendo speech.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Necro Nesia looks interesting. I'm guessing the flashlight is the remote. Giant slugs crawling all over, this could the be the survival horror title for launch

No MP3 until 2007.

Except real life politicians literally do lie and cheat and steal and break the rules, all the time. Cheney, Bush, Bush Senior, etc...
