Orca The Swordmaster
« on: February 28, 2003, 06:08:55 PM »
I just picked up my Legend of Zelda OoT game. I was reading the preview guide for the Wind Waker. I was looking at the characters, and one of the characters, Orca, reminds me of the Swordmaster in the Legend of Zelda for NES. The explanation says "This is the Swordmaster in Link's hometown". The guy is also a gray haired old man. Could they be the same person?

I doubt they'd be the same person because in the legend of Zelda Wind Waker,  it takes 100 years after Orcarina of time.  Who knows how many years it takes before the origional legend of zelda.

Umm, there was no sword master in The Legend of Zelda. The only thing there was, was a bunch of old men in red robes with beards that told you stuff and gave you things like swords. The Legend of Zelda manual doesn't say anything about the old man who gives you the swords being in Link's hometown because Link isn't in his hometown. Old wise men have been a staple in Zelda games. There was the red bearded dudes from LoZ that had the same sprite for each of them. Again in AoL you had a bunch of red robed bearded old guys in each town. ALttP had Sahasrahla who led you through the first part of the game. Then in LA you had... well okay you had an old owl instead. Need I go on? Besides each Zelda game with the exception of those that are coupled together like Oot and MM have hundreds if not even thousands of yrs that take place between them. It's not the same old man.

Actually in Link's Awakening,  you had that one old telephone guy that gave you tips on what to do next.

To me the telepone guy was more of an equivalent to the fortune teller in ALttP. Besides I hated that they put phones in a game that is supposed to be in a Lord of the Rings type world. Just stupid. That goes for cameras and other modern technology like that. I'll put up with it but I sure as hell won't like it.
