I'm glad we've finally, after all this waiting, gotten the release date for the release date.

*starts repeatedly refrshing AMN*
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

The DS lite will be coming out on June 11, for a price of $149. polar white being the only color available.

Good. This means I can hold-off on buying a DSL until a color other than "Polar White" is released in North America.

The Nintendo press release is vague on both price and colors...

It says "is expected to be priced as low as 129.99"...

and... "The inaugural color is an elegant Polar White"...

This most likely means that it will only be available in white at launch, and I'm thinking that the price will depend on how much original DS stock is left in stores.  If they sell through most of it, the Lite will come out at 130, if they still need to get rid of some, it will come out at 150.

Either way, I'm waiting for black!

PS: I posted the release here...

heres a question i would like your opinions on.
say it does release with the only color available is White at launch, and we dont see a color until a few months later down the road. im holding out for a black or maybe even a nice red.
when i do switch over...
do i simply sell my current ds for credit at a gamestop that i can use towards Wii?

or should i take a nobler route where i give my current ds to my friend who switched over from nintendo to ps2 and swears that graphics is glory and sequels to top selling franchises (like GoW2) are "the way to go", and let him see the nintendo way; innovation is where its at?

i only ask this because there are a ton of games i'd gladly trade in for credit towards Wii, but at the same time i am tired of my friends ps3 is god statements and him looking at me like an alien when i try to explain what 3d motion controls can offer video games.

Shouldn't the title of the thread be "DS Lite release date"?  Or if you do edit it, why not add the June 11th date in the title as well.

You should keep the system for yourself so you can lend it to friends when they come over to play multiplayer Meteos (and New Super Mario Bros).
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
