well techincally since Wii already has Sega Genesis emulators if it emulates the actual harsware it already *has* Neo Geo support by default. Sega Genesis and Neo Geo are identical hardware. The only difference was Sega used the Z80 as a sound chip where as SNK used it for graphics. So it could be very easy to emulate Neo Geo games with just a little tweaking of the emulator code.  Or SNK could relese the Sega CD versions fo thier games cuz they arent that bad either.

SImular but way way more powerful. The Neo could move sprites the size of all the Genesis sprites put together!

According to SNK USA message boards it is being pressed now and should hit stores around the 15th. I also work part time at an EB(just to get the discount) and its no longer in the pre-order reserve list so that means our shipment is coming in this week sometime(Hopefully)

Whoa, I missed these positive words from Ian?

My friend will be picking this and Hawt Loli Golf up on Tues.

Like MilkmanX said the hardware was similar but the Neo Geo was far beyond the Genesis. While they both had Motorola 68000 CPUs it ran at 12mhz in the Neo Geo and 7.6 in the Genesis. More importantly the Neo Geo could handle nearly 6 times the sprites and display 64 times the colors of the Mega Drive/Genesis. Sidenote: The 68000 was a popular chip, it was also the CPU in the Jaguar (it ran at 13.296mhz) and the CD-i (15.5 mhz).

what I meant was if its already being emulated so it wont require writting a whoel new emulator. Also the Genesis DID have the same exact Z80 co processor init whihc is what Neo Geo used to up the grfx. IF Genesis had used it for GFX instead of sound tehywould be IDENTICAL. Sega did manage to get a couple games to use it and they pushed the genesis well beyond what was intended, but sacrificed sounds effects and BG music in exchange.

The Genesis and Neo Geo had identical Sprite capabilities also only Neo Geo could display larger sprites due to usign a co processor.

The Neo Geos extra speed and suchs was also from the Z80 taking some of the load off. And it had more RAM.
Being they had such simialr hardware is sorta why the Genesis ports of SNk fighters were more accruate than SNES ports. which were impressive and colorfulfull but sluggish and choppy too.

All the would have to do for emulator is write the code upping the RAM allocations and getitng the right bios. not much to convert.

As I recall, the Neo Geo actually had 2 CPUs. One is the Z80 16 bit CPU along with another 8 bit CPU. I'm not sure what the other CPU is for though. It's because of both of these CPUs that the system is dubbed a 24 bit system.
