I just realized it has been 10 years since the last Pilotwings game.  No one can accuse Nintendo of milking THAT franchise.

"honestly, I’ve tried playing an FPS on it and I don’t find it an improvement over today’s controllers"

That's not too encouraging.

Maybe because of they slip up they'll be able to fire the whiney bastard. Good riddance.

Indeed.

His comments about using it with a FPS sound ridiculous.  Honestly, how can it not improve the control?  I just don't see how that's possible.

True.  He may also be someone like me who really doesn't care for the mouselook control style for first person shooters.  I think Goldeneye's default control scheme is perfect and that if you require aiming more precise then that then your game is too complicated.  I'm well aware I'm in the minority on that though.

Yeah, the FPS thing sounds like total BS to me (acronyms ahoy).  Everyone else has said how drastically it improves the controls, which leads me to believe this is just some desperate attempt to keep holding Sony above Nintendo.  Despite all logic.  I mean, dual shock controls are really just terrible for FPS.

I guess we'll just have to see for ourselves, though.

Lets also hope that of the possible reasons he gives for naming the console Wii, it's number 3.  Please be 3.

"In the meantime, though, here's the big question I have: At Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference, who is going to be the one to start the "Change it back" chant?"

I actually wonder if this won't happen...

This is why Nintendo announced the Wii name early. They knew that if they had said it at the conference all hell would've broken loose...

Nintendo assumes that by next week everyone has gotten the anger and shock out of the system and just see the presentation.

However, I think a couple of people might say something if they don't explain the Wii further...

Who knows? maybe things will get so bad, a riot will ensue! And some maniacal fanboy will come up on stage with a gun and threaten to kill Miyamoto if Nintendo doesn't change the name back!!!! O.O

...Why do I picture Smash_Brother being that maniac fanboy? Weird...

But Miyamoto already owns a sword and shield, and as we saw back in the Twilight Princess unveiling... he knows how to USE it!

If someone wastes my time with chanting while I'm trying to get info on Wii, I'll be very severely pissed.

I think that the controls really depend on the developer, and he might have just played a game which hasnt perfected controls yet. The Echoes demo with the remote is universally acclaimed as really intuitive. It really depends how sensitive the remote is, and it seems is really sensitive, so the devs have to process remote signals with extreme care. It must be difficult, I imagine trying to code something like that and I get nightmares.

Oh, I'm sure there will be some kind of control at the conference. If they see that they are constantly interrupting the presentation they will toos them out.

That was an awesome video.  It's the first time I saw the actual presentation.

LMAO, that video is indeed priceless. Only at a Nintendo briefing.

And man, that is a SMALL room compared to the Kodak!

I had a thought enter my head about a game I think was discussed about being moved to the Wii, and it has since dropped from the radar. I'm betting that Pennant Chase which was supposedly coming along fine for the GC and was cancelled without much reason will be at E3. Maybe there are people here who haven't forgotten about it, but its been a while since I've seen it brought up in the forum. I think the game is a natural for the system.

Pennant Chase was getting fairly high praise, and it was really close to completeion.  They had already had a party to show it off.

I have a hard time beileving they would have sunk all that money into it just to kill it after it was almost done.  Wii port seems likely.

It was a Ninty-published baseball game that was "postponed indefinitely."  Most likely to put it on Wii...

Another rumour to whet the appetite...IGN was hyping up an exclusive they were supposed to show tonight, but it "was pulled."  On the boards in the apology thread, these two comments stand out...

"Izza Good" - Matt

"Izza gud!" - Peer

I've seen both speculation at the Mario title (though I personally don't think "It's a me" sounds like "Izza") and a Blizzard title (Blizzard?  Oh my, secret letters...)

BS!  If they assumed that people would have to get it out of their systems, they'd realize it's horrible name.

'Celda' certainly didn't sell the way a 'realistic' version would have, and it certainly didn't move systems like it either.
