It's actually mentioned in there, sorry...I sorta expect it to be the last thing shown, but who knows? =D

Considering the remote controller was going to be an add-on for the GC... they've certainly been working on the concept for a long time.

Now, how long they are into the level design is another question.

C'mon... just tell us. It's so worth it to me for you to be facing legal action for breaking your NDA. You'd be labeled as a c*ck tease otherwise, and you don't wanna be known as that.

I have two strong words for you. C'mon. C'mon. (name that reference.) (edit: TrueNerd beat me to it.)

Anyway. Listened to the podcast. I liked the whole 'Has footage of Red Steel been shown? - I'm out of it' 'Shown to who?' 'The public' 'No' 'The let's move on' bit. Pretty sure that was pre-planned.

Jokes were annoying, though. I've sort of come to the conclusion that Wii is actually so ridiculous you can't succeed in making fun of it. Like superheroes.

I haven't seen Dodgeball or Wedding Crashers, but I know it's in Family Guy.  That's the same episode in which Peter learns an important life lesson about electric pencil sharpeners.

Back on topic, is there any tidbit about what the 2nd Retro game could be?  They had several projects that got canceled to make Metroid Prime, including an RPG, I think.  I'd like to see what kind of RPG they'd make.

*Insert gratuitous opinion on Wii name here*

I'm excited to hear Retro may be working on something other than Metroid.  I strongly believe that it will not be any of the games Retro was working on back in the early GameCube era, just because all of them have been on the back burner so long.  It would probably make more sense to start from scratch.  I think the staff has changed quite a bit since then too.  Although I guess I could see them taking some of the basic concepts behind one of the old games.  At any rate, I'm really glad, because I hate seeing developers get pigeon-holed into making sequels to popular franchises over and over.

I also have to agree that an NST first person shooter would have more of an impact than Wave Race.  This system could easily be THE system for first person shooters, but Nintendo will need to lead by example.  Red Steel looks nice, but there's no guarantee that it will be really good, plus I don't think it would hurt at all to have a second, differently-themed shooter.  I'm thinking a sci-fi or spy FPS.

Also, while we're on the topic of games, it's pretty cool to hear in the IGN Madden interview that EA is planning to build most or all of its Revolution games from the ground up instead of porting!  The downside to this is that we will probably continue to get shafted on Burnout, and possibly in the sports genre as well (I don't care much about sports, but it is a genre that Nintendo needs some help in).  Still, if Nintendo can get EA making exclusive games for it, and the developers are talking about fine-tuning the control to make it feel like the player is really controlling Madden, those sound like victories to me.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Actually, that's not what I heard. They always talk about having this "great codebase" so that EA Burnaby doesn't need to worry about giving it AI and whatnot. EA Burnaby seems to be handling the pure Wii-centric ports of EA's other games.

That said, we know that this is not just another port. Why? Because this group is being charged specifically with dealing with the Wii-headed versions of the games and all their concentration is on that one platform. This isn't just a coding team, but a game design team as well because of the controller features they need to adapt and build from scratch. This way, ports on the Revolution won't be using the shell, and maybe, just maybe, this EA studio will also be dedicated to code optimization for the Rev that allows it to shine graphically.

So there is no such things as reviews? Impressions? Game footage? From looking and reading all these things, I am going to agree with Mario here, it doesn't look like anything special at all, and it shouldn't be labelled as a Metroid game. But that's the opinion I have formed..

Best.E3.Ever.

I can't imagine what Nintendo is going to drop on us with the Wii/Revolution business, not to mention the DS and Twilight Princess. I was talking with my buddy about the possibility of Nintendo dropping the bomb on some Smash Bros. DS game that has some linkage with the Wii version. That would be so hot. 1 week and we will be enlightened!

Tis the year of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii.

I predict this year will show only Zelda for Gamecube, and very very few games for the Gameboy Advance.

The focus is going to be purely on the Wii as the headliner and the Nintendo DS as the warmup band...and it will be great.

1UP editor Sam Kennedy may have made a little slipup in his latest blog...

"And that’s where the Revolution comes in. It’s Nintendo’s big effort to get rid of that barrier and to create something that everyone can enjoy. Microsoft’s been talking about how the industry needs to reach 1 billion gamers, and as far as I can see their best efforts have been Bejewled and Zuma on Xbox Live Arcade. Sure, not everything companies do on the Revolution will be great (honestly, I’ve tried playing an FPS on it and I don’t find it an improvement over today’s controllers), but there will be some games that really show the universal appeal of the console. Friends of mine tell me Pilotwings is absolutely perfect - it’s something anyone can pick up and enjoy. Nintendo’s changing all of the rules - they’ve created an experience anyone can enjoy. They’ve created a system for everyone."

Aww you beat me by like 5 minutes.

As exciting as that is, I expected it.  I mean, from the moment they showed off the flight demo all you've heard is "PILOTWINGS!" and "NiGHTS!" changed by the choir.

The fact he leaked this game will probably get him killed by the Reginator.

Another thing in his blog I found interesting was his discussion on the scale of Nintendo's E3 conference.
Twice the size of their regular venue and "And from insiders I've spoken with, it's going to be the biggest production a game company has ever put on."  Interesting.
