Well, looks like there are finally pics for the remake.  The style, IMO, is similar to FF:CC for GC.  Hope we hear more soon.

Here's the link.  Enjoy.

The girl on the left looks like the little witch girl from Berserk.

But yes...it does look EXTREMELY good.  I'm glad SE hasn't forgotten about this.

Indeed, she does look like Schierke .

About the game, it does look promising, the idea that it might have online features plus it being in 3D gives me the impression that this game is testing ground for what Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles DS will be.

Those screens look VERY nice. Tales of Tempest and FFIII show how nice 3D games can look on the DS.
Currently Playing: Twilight Princess(Wii), Castlevania: PoR(DS), Mario vs. Donkey Kong2(DS), Wii sports(Wii)
Anticipating: Mario Galaxy(Wii), Blue Dragon(360), Dragon Quest:Swords(Wii), Dragon Quest IX (DS)

Indeed, SE had alot of time to perfect this. And considering that the DS is more or less as powerful as the N64 it's bound to look better than FFVII, and SE was once tried getting FFVII on the 64 as you may know, so they used the Characters from FFVI ( I think ) also known as FFIII. it should be intresting how the game plays. It does look quite beautiful, can't wait.

Just got my dslite and I am completely happy that I got it before this game.  The FMVs are going to look gorgeous compressed on that small bright beautiful screen.

Oh and sorry for resurrecting an old thread just figured it was better than startin a new one.

That depends on if you tried FF4 or FF6.

If not, then yes, it does.

If so, then yes, it does.

WTFrick? They're putting FMVs on the DS?

... sorry, my pessimism, got the better of me there. But seriously, is a 1 gigabit card enough space for FMV?

Oh, and that trailer hints that the DS one-ups the PS3. Real-time costume-switching.

I was under the impression that the amount of space that fmvs take up is greatly overestimated.

And i'm sure if Nintendo needed a larger game card size they could have such made.

Especailly since I'm pretty sure it's based off of flash technology and that's been getting cheaper like Nintendo predicted. (Though the always could use the GBA slot to have a cartridge that holds them all.)

The. what I would assume to be ingame, footage looks nicer then a lot of PS2 games.
I wouldn't go that far, but it does look really good. This and Tales of the Tempest really push the DS's 3D capabilities.

Fmvs can be compressed down real good.  Just on GBA Kingdom Hearts CoM had SEVERAL long cutscenes that were all fmvs.   Look at Gameboy video they can fit a hour and a half film on a GBA cart.  Plus, if no one remembers, when the DS launched some third party software developer announced that they had made a developer tool to allow large files of FMVs for DS and GBA to be compressed down to extremely small file sizes.  Plus I think square got a giant card from nintendo just like they did for the GBA version of Kingdom Hearts CoM.

Wow.  "The game that should not have existed" actually came in handy.  Who would of known.   Fun thought thouch if the FMV uses only one screen it could use the other graphic processor to possibly help with the decompression.  Allowing for more complicated compression.

Plus all, remember that Resident Evil 2 was fit completely onto a 512 megabit N64 cart(including a couple extra tiny files).  So this is really nothing.

I haven't seen anything on the net so hopefully its wrong, but I heard that Nintendo was set to distribute FFIII and now Square wants to distribute iit themselves so the release has been postponed until the contract period has passed.

I checked out a couple of retailers, Amazon has an early October release while Gamestop has early November. Wasn't the original date in September? Is it possible that the release date will continue to be passed back until the contract period is met?

That's odd... Why would Square ever consider letting Nintendo publish any game from its core series thats not a spin off of sort?  Oh wait it says distribute... Thats odd why would Square want to spend there own money distributing it when they could just let Nintendo do it for them?

Nintendo must get a cut.  What this says to me is that Square Enix now has enough faith in DS to stop being mollycoddled by Nintendo.
That's my opinion, not yours.
