Bill, so PM me and tell me how you get to world 7.

By the way, Some of those Coins are just mean to collect.  Why Nintendo, why are you so evil!!!

Oh, and I believe several other games deserve perfect 10s.

Super Mario World
Link to The Past
Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island
F-Zero 64
Zelda OoT

Games that deserve 9s are much too numerous, but pretty much most of Nintendo's back catalog.

Thanks Bill.

I like Link' Awakening, It was incredibly Impressive that they were able to get the game on the Gameboy system...but it isn't the best Zelda game created.

That will forever be Link to the Past.

A perfect game really needs to call you back to play it over, and over again.  The games I listed really do that.

I guess I would also put Super Mario 64 in that mix as well.  I can't believe I forgot that one.

Arbok:  Melee isn't perfect.  The characters are not all perfectly balanced, and there is just too much going on in the game to be fun all the time.  My friends won't even play Melee anymore because they just can't get into like they did the first game.

Smash Brothers the original felt like a more perfect game than Melee...or at least it was more fun to me.

So wait, all of the characters in F-Zero 64 are perfectly balanced?

The first Smash Bros was more unbalanced then Melee ever was, with the manner of the old grabs being so powerful that in turn made Fox and Captain Falcon more top tier than any character in Melee could hope to achieve. The fact that both characters were nerfed and are still two of the best shows how uneven they were in the N64 one.

Also, if your complaint is that there is "too much going on", why don't you just play in the same manner I often do: Final Destination, no items. Very straight forward fight, or you can spice it up with more options if you desire. The skys are the limit in Melee in terms of how you want to play, while the Single Player gives it some nice added value at the start. For me, there is no other game that I will revisit at least once a year for almost a month more of play then SSB:M.

Arbok:  No not every character in F-Zero 64 is balanced...but it is a racing game with tons of cars...more than any other before it...and did something no other racer has done with that many cars racing.  It was amazingly smooth and tight.

I regard Melee as a very, very high 9, but not a perfect 10.  I wouldn't rate Smash Brothers a perfect 10 either.  I am just saying, I enjoyed playing the original more than than Melee.

Amen to that setup brother. Final Destination no items is the only way to play.

If I wanted to play "no items" then I would play a real fighting game...But I hate normal fighting games, so that'd be pointless...

Ok.  You have perfectly explained what I wanted to say.

I love Smash Brothers, and to take the items and level design out of the game, takes the enjoyment (for me) out of the game.  But that doesn't mean that Melee didn't go too far.  The super large levels with so much animation going on, zooming in/out, explosions, items flying all over the place.  Its very hard in Melee to keep an eye on your character.

Its fun chaos in single player mode, and when you have friends that will play and enjoy it with you.  But it was too chaotic for my friends, and I had to agree with them in many regards.  In the original game skill was still a major factor in 4-player matches...it appears to be less a factor in Melee.

The original just felt better.

But that doesn't mean I want to play an ordinary fighting game.  Far from it.  I love Melee's concept, design, and characters.  So I am hoping Brawl brings the game closer to the original with the added features that made Melee great as well.

I don't understand what the problem is. So what is keeping you from selecting the "classic" and smaller stages, and fixing the item selection so it's the same as SSB if you felt Melee somehow messed up in this regard? I personally don't like the Ice Climber level much, so I don't play it. If the larger levels are a problem for you (personally, I love them, though) then why not just avoid them? From what I'm hearing, most of your complaints are stuff that is togglable in SSB:M anyway, so I'm not seeing how the N64 one could be seen as better. Of course it's your opinion, but most complaints over Melee seem to be stuff like the way grabbing was changed (aka nerfed) or that they added an extra attack for everyone adds more of a learning curve (although you seem to complain that this one requires less skill...); stuff that you can't remove in the GCN version in a menu.

The gameplay was slowed from SSB64 considerably, and throws were nerfed into oblivion.  Z trigger shield (64) >> L analog trigger shield (GC).

P.S.  I have 6 worlds worth of coins in NSMB.  Rock out.

Ok.  Back to Super Mario Bros.  Artimus's code works with or without beating the game...and it is actually pretty cool.  Several people love green better than red.  I am one of those people...so to be able to finish this game knowing this gem is a treat for me.

Don't diss the green, because one day it will rule the Mushroom Kingdom.

My God the willpower! I can guarantee you one thing, you won't be anywhere near disappointed. I am just about done with the game and it makes me sad. I loved it soooooo much. I think it would be great if beating the game unlocked the original smb with the new items, graphics and moves. Anyway the 11th will be a great day for you, DSLite and New SMB
