That's a misleading thread title, I was expecting a port of Elite for the DS.

I don't really see how. If the thread was for and DS version of "Elite", wouldn't it be name "Elite DS" or "DS Elite". I can see how the thread title would make you think that the game is a DS Lite exclusive, not playable on the regular DS.

Also no, I don't have a DS Lite yet.

Or maybe an Elite-branded DS Lite?

Oh you mean the DS eLite, the new, more compact version of the DS Lite with web-browser built in.  It'll only be available after you buy the DS Lite, sorry.

Same. Be here next week.

But change "Elite" to "Early adopting consumer whore" and you have my opinion of myself on the subject.

I guess I'll give you the bad news...

From Lik-Sang in the reply email:
The stock that is currently available is way too little for Japanese gamers and not at all enough for all preorders that Lik Sang or anyone outside of Japan has received. While we could grab a few dozens today, we may be able to grab some more tomorrow and so on. If Nintendo starts shipping more quantities, please rest assured that we will do everything humanly possible to ship your order as fast as we can. At this moment in time, it is impossible to know how many units we will get on a daily basis, please stay tuned to the website for more information.

To make a long story short, be prepared for a waiting time of several weeks or under extreme circumstances even more. Please note that your credit card won't be charged until your order is shipping. Should Nintendo do some magic and increase production quantities tomorrow (despite not having announced anything so far), we will be able to ship your system faster. Please understand that the shortage is completely out of Lik Sang's control.

Please be sure we are really doing the best we can to get as many orders shipped out every day as we humanly can. You will receive and e-mail with a tracking number to notify you as soon as your order has been shipped.

Long story short, it could be a month+ before we see ours.

But these things are going for $250+ on ebay, which means that, if you decide it's not worth the $$$, you can always resell it for a tidy sum.

This was in reply to whether or not switching my order to white from navy would increase my chances of getting one.

From the sounds of it, no.

That just means they're too overwhelmed to answer everyone's begging.  It's the standard message they've had since the launch day.  The truth is that whichever color is least popular will ship out quicker, you don't need them to answer that.

True, and I suspect Navy is the most popular.

I guess it's better to wait it out than risk getting at the back of the line for white.

DS Lite production jumps in Japan
Quote

Nintendo has announced that it will be stepping up production of the new portable, with its figures for March jumping from its original target of 450,000 units to 550,000 units. The future looks even better for would-be DS owners, with Nintendo revealing that 700,000 DSes will enter the pipeline in April.
Good news for Bloodworth, Smash_Brother, maryjane and anyone else who's still waiting to get their import DS Lite.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

That's good news, indeed.

I was hoping to get one before March is out but that certainly won't be happening.

I was just informed that mine shipped today.

I'm not looking forward to having to readd all of my friend codes, but the lighter console, brighter screen and thicker stylus should make it all worthwhile.

Got mine today: stuck pixel on the touchscreen.

Anyone know any methods for getting rid of these or am I SOL?

I'm sooooo darn lucky because of you both, ShyGuy and Smash_Brother, because I've had this green pixel on my new screen since I bought it and I actually thought it was a dead pixel, never did I figure there was such a thing as a stuck pixel. WICKED! Now I hope I'm lucky enough to get it fixed *crosses fingers*.

I happen to have the necessary GBA components to write to a GBA card and upload the java program which will flash the colors to HOPEFULLY get it unstuck. They said to leave it on overnight and it might fix it. My pixel is neon green as well.

This is a make or break situation for me, as I'm as anal-retentive as they come and a bright green dot which is constantly on will DEFINITELY bother me.
