Grey, I do remember reading in an EGM interview with...let's see...I think it was Kojima and others back when MGS2 had rocked E3 with a trailer or something and they were talking about how GameCube was for kids. This I remember VERY clearly, but whether or not Kojima said it, I cannot recall--I think so, though. Anyway, this didn't make him my mortal enemy, but I did find it a bit distressing that a company as big as Konami was helping to perpetuate the myth that games made for all are inherently games for children.
Like the best children's literature, the best games for children are games that adults can and should like, too. For instance, I challenge you to read Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle In Time and not either fall deeply in love with it and its unforgettable characters. Is it a "kid's" book? Technically, yes. But where it matters, it's just good literature, and that knows no age boundary.
