They're in the same timezone as Miyamoto, but don't get your hopes up just yet.  Newtechnix also reported GC Contra about a year ago before it was announced.

I don't want to inflate people's expectations, but this seems like this will happen. A quick glance at the boards at Konami's site indicate that Konami has some interesting things in store for us; it's just that they have been really tight about letting that info out. I was disappointed after the Castlevania announcement, but I spoke too soon I think. It certainly looks like they are giving the system a chance, which was all really wanted.

Kojima-sama has gone on record saying that he wanted to make a GameCube game.  This could be it.  Also, when Konami wanted to know what GC owners thought of their policies, their forums were wanged by all the GCN fans.  (To use Gabe's word for it...  )

But yes, I would really like some confirmation on this.  If it was an actual interview, someone else should be reporting the same information.  (PGC maybe?)

Any staff members wish to confirm or deny this?  I am really hopeful right now.

Hideo Kojima gives the most conflicting statements ever.  One day he says that Metal Gear does not belong on Gamecube, the next day he's all for it if Konami decided to.  The main reason I don't really respect the man is because he was baffled why he wasn't regarded as highly as Miyamoto and Naka, then stating "I think I'm as good, if not better, than both of them."  He later retracted that statement, but man, have some humility!  You've made a few good games, nothing like Miyamoto.

(crap, Miyamoto Shrine used to make mention of this, but I can't find it now)

He actually said that?  LMAO!  I think my respect for the man just went down a few pegs.  He's done some good work in his day, but he is no Miyamoto.

I really want this game for the cube.  I've played it on ps2 a couple of times at my friends house.  The only thing is how are they going to program the control scheme?

Hey Gibdo thanks for the link, you were right its a very interesting discussion. Seems that the game is supposedly a remake of MGS1. A remake that is more extensive than the RE1 remake. While I still don't think this rumor is true, it seems too perfect, I can certainly keep my fingers crossed. Well if this turns out to be true maybe we can get some other Konami classics on Gamecube.

Why would Miyamoto, the guy responsible for producing and directing Nintendo games, know anything about Konami's plan to remake a game?  And why would he blab about it to the press?

Don't believe it until Konami says it.

I already own the original MGS for PC, but if it comes to GameCube in an enhanced form, I will buy it all over again.  The game is one of my favorites of all time, and it could only get better.  (Although they had better well leave the voice acting as-is.)

However, if they are thinking of porting the crap that is MGS2 to GameCube instead, I could really care less.  I hate that game.

Grey, I do remember reading in an EGM interview with...let's see...I think it was Kojima and others back when MGS2 had rocked E3 with a trailer or something and they were talking about how GameCube was for kids.  This I remember VERY clearly, but whether or not Kojima said it, I cannot recall--I think so, though.  Anyway, this didn't make him my mortal enemy, but I did find it a bit distressing that a company as big as Konami was helping to perpetuate the myth that games made for all are inherently games for children.

Like the best children's literature, the best games for children are games that adults can and should like, too.  For instance, I challenge you to read Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle In Time and not either fall deeply in love with it and its unforgettable characters.  Is it a "kid's" book?  Technically, yes.  But where it matters, it's just good literature, and that knows no age boundary.

I remember that article.  However, Kojima later said that it was a mistranslation, or he was misunderstood or something, and expressed his desire to make a GameCube project, as he personally wasn't of that mindset.  I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

As for a Wrinkle in Time, I was forced to read that in gradeschool, and I remember hating it.  At any rate, I do understand your point, as Watership Down was a children's book that I loved, and I know many other adults who love it as well.  And believe me, I do get your point on the games too.  But as far as games rated E always being kiddy, that's not true.  A game can only be Kiddy if it is on a Nintendo system.  Look at all the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro fans after all.  (Or better yet:  Kingdom Hearts.)

they should change the rating too A(all) or M(mature). No need for a teen rating.  I mean it is a stupid rating.  Super Smash Brothers Melee got a teen rating.  I sold a gamecube to a lady with 2 kids when i workd at target, and she wouldnt buy SSBM because of that stupid T.  I at that moment began to hate the T rating.  It is a waste of Box art.

True or not, I personally would prefer a remake of the original Metal Gear.  Many people missed out on that boat, and it would be interesting to see it in it's fully realized.  Well, I think it would certainly be a more interesting remake than MGS.  I loved the game, but I don't see the point in remaking it, unless there were some major ideas that were left out.

Sure, RE was remade, but that game really benefited from the atmosphere that's possible with this generation of consoles.  I don't see how that would relate to MGS.  That said, I'd still buy the game as I never owned the original.

blindtree, you are really onto something.  I have the Metal Gear cart, but I have never finished the game, or even gotten reasonably far as the game is stupidly difficult.  It would be interesting to see the original two remade.  And I have heard from someone I trust that Metal Gear 2 was by far the best in the series, and MGS was like a cheap clone of it.  (I am talking about the one on MSX, not NES)
