Would it be smart to Re-lease the WaveBird in the colors of the Revolution? My cube is hooked up to my iMac and a Pearl White 'Bird would be so Stevey.

I'm hoping they release wireless controllers of classic systems. I personally don't really like the new white, but updated S/NES / 64 controllers would be awesome..

Cool.. but is that extra Z button there on purpose, or is it just because you took it from the IGN mockup, and forgot to remove it?

If you think about it the wavebird would be pointless for the rev, all you need now is the shell to plug the remote into.  Im sure nintendo will release the shell in a myriad of colours.

It will be interesting to see what kind of shells Nintendo is going to offer.  Will they release shells that look like current or past controllers or will they take it a step futher and improve on the existing design they already have?

Keep the buttons coloured, otherwise it's hard to see what the game is telling you when it shows a small image of the button. When you use a PS2 you notice how impossible it is to differentiate those button colours, especially under pressure.

I don't know that the "shell" will contrtol GameCube games.  I thought that was the point of the ports on the side for GC controllers.

the  extra z button snaps down  and activates a gyro  function...and you use  that instead  of the  c-stick

"When you use a PS2 you notice how impossible it is to differentiate those button colours, especially under pressure."

I find that's more due to the fact that the PS2 uses shapes instead of letters.  A lot of older consoles don't have coloured buttons but I haven't had difficulty with them.  The letters give them some sort of logical order.  But I always have to look down on the Playstation.  I have no clue where triangle is in relation to square.  It's all arbitrary so the only way to figure out where anything is is memorization.

The Cube is finished so I don't see much reason to release a new Wavebird.  I don't think anyone but existing Cube owners will use the Cube controllers on the Rev.  The shell will probably be the prefered way to do it because it's totally wireless.  I think the Cube controller ports are to ensure 100% compatibility with the Cube (ie: if you want to play four player Donkey Konga) but will not be the required way to play Cube games.  It just doesn't make sense to force people to buy two sets of controllers.  The shell will likely be included with every remote and the shell will be the most common way of playing Cube games.

In Megaman X Command Mission, the button images (especially during Axl's special) are so small the shapes blur, doesn't help that they're using desaturated colours on dark background. So all you have is the colours and those are hard to differentiate as well. When a button pops up on the screen you see the colour immediately but have to read the letter/symbol on it to know what it's labelled.

The shell is suppose to make all past controllers obsolete.

I hope it doesn't look like the wavebird. As cool as the mock-up is, I'd rather have it similar to the N64 controller. However, I don't see it emulating the dual analog system well.

I think Ian's right on this one.  I never even look at the controller for any of the Nintendo consoles Ive owned, but with the Ps2, I seem to always be looking down at the buttons to make sure I'm pressing the right one

I agree too.  I've said like 10 times in these forums that buttons should be arranged and shaped in such a way that you can "feel" which one you're pressing.  Unfortunately, the DS doesn't do it, and I'm starting to fear the Rev shell won't either.
That's my opinion, not yours.
