Possession in development for the Revolution
Quote

The latest Revolution Game had been revealed. Published by Blitz Games, Possession will also be released on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Developed on the "Flame" engine, Possession will feature online play, you'll join up to seven others in a fierce bloody battle of wits and survival.

Possession will show "real-time" skin degradation in the zombies with the use of multiple-layered texture and normal maps while a physics-driven limb damage system enables the characters to be mutilated and decapitated as they are attacked.

+1 for Revolution

and a little about the flame engine - Blitzgames.com

Vertex and Pixel Shader Editor
Real-time shaders are an essential part of any cutting edge visual effects system. Flame is an integrated editor for creating and editing vertex and pixel shaders, giving artists and programmers full control over the vertex and pixel pipeline to create an infinite range of surface effects with support for all the latest graphic technologies.

In light of announcements by hardware manufacturers it is clear that shaders play an important role across all emerging console platforms from PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 through Revolution to the PC. With powerful shader editing and preview built right into Flare and the engine, the system is well placed to take full advantage of this exciting technology.

At least we know that the ports are coming....

I always thought it would be cool to have a game complex enough to have calculations of physics as well as biology, it would calculate whether or not a particular blow to a particular area of the body would cause an injury, and that injury and its effects would be realistic.  It could calculate whether a blow to someone's head is enough to decapitate them, or how long someone would have to bleed before they died.  (A multi-player game should allow for respawning if you suffer enough damage, so you don't have to wait out a match lying at the bottom of a shaft with broken limbs, unable to move, or if you get hit in the head too many times and lose all your senses but are still alive.)

Of course, every anti-violence group would totally be against that, as anyone could then use the game to "train" people to see what can or can't kill a person.  o_0

I'm sure that even if it has zombies with real-time decoposing skin, and if the game is any good at all, people are going to make a big deal out of it.

What platforms are you developing Possession for?
Possession is truly next generation in both gameplay and presentation. Expect to see it hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2 in 2007, as well as a high-end PC version in the same year.

Yeah, that totally confirms it for Revolution.

Sorry Jonny, I thought that was the article where they mentioned it. Back around E3, Possession was listed as a game for the Revolution on IGN. Of course, I don't know if that was conjecture on their part.

You, shut up. Games are games. Games create interest. Interest is good for Nintendo.

^What? Did you quote the wrong person?

Anyway, Possession makes me ill. It features not the good kind of gore, but the bad kind. The kind you see in your worst nightmares.
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

Hahaha, I think Dirk meant to quote me, but failed...

(And I still stand by what I said...Possession doesn't look like it'd be improved through use of the Revmote...I would like them to work on a game for the Rev from the bottom up...)

Zombies are nowhere near as ubiquitous as crates.  But, I do see your point.  As a zombie genre fan, I do hate seeing my favorite monsters getting diluted.
