The Countdown
« on: January 29, 2006, 09:57:08 AM »
I randomly checked my calendar today and found that E3 is exactly 100 days away. Which means 100 days until the total exposure of the Nintendo Revolution. Needless to say, I'm psyched. So, i'd like to use this thread as an official countdown. I'd also like to know who's coming this year so leave a post and we'll hopefully meet up in LA!

100 days...

100 days... that's quite a ways away. I'm gonna go ahead and focus on March 22nd which will bring me Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris, and that is only 52 days away. THEN I will focus on May 9th.

Still too far off to care.

The sooner you start counting, the slower the days will go.

I'd much prefer to just say, "What? The press conference is today?"

Perm what date are you counting down to? Isn't the conference at the same time as last year? All I remeber it was 2am here last time, i've now got my (firefox extension) countdown target to May 10 2am 2006, and it says there's 8420120 to go as i'm typing this.

Oh well, I'll just countdown to a few hours before it, since it's going to be just as exciting then. I bet they'll delay it slightly as well, it's gonna be tough getting everyone settled into that massive place.

lol you guys suck. I just thought it was kinda cool since this is an extra special E3. No reason to check it every second, just thought it would be a nice reminder every once in a while. Anyway, I'll update the countdown every 10 days so it seems like its actually going somewhere....you butt

The most activity will occur after the press conference.  During E3 itself things will quiet down and then we'll get a lot of "the Rev is the best ever" or "the Rev is a total letdown" threads.

More like during E3, we'll get a lot of "you can't appreciate it til you play it" threads....

Then, after demo kiosks go out, we'll get a lot of "you can't appreciate it til you play it at home" threads....

Then after the rev is released, we'll get a lot of "we were all expecting sales to be slow it first, they'll pick up soon!" threads

Then, halfway through the rev's lifecycle, we'll get a lot of "I don't care about third party support/marketshare! All that matters is that we get great Nintendo games and that Nintendo is making some money" threads....

Then, towards the end of the rev's lifecycle, we'll get a lot of "it's okay, Nintendo will fix all their mistakes and do better with the rev 2" threads....

And then we'll get a lot of "I don't care if I have to buy an Xbox to play Nintendo games, cause all that matters are the games!" threads

And then we'll get a lot of "I don't care that Microsoft dissolved Nintendo, they were going downhill and, anyway, they were always overrated to begin with" threads....

nintendo will never be pushed out of the industry they created.
nintendo has obviously had what it takes to do things the same way their competitors have. but they CHOOSE NOT TO because they have a DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHY!

The real truth of the matter is that the only one who can kill Nintendo is Nintendo.

Either they can work to see to it that the 3rd parties support their new format and style of console or they can employ the "Lil' Brudder" attitude of "I can make it on my own!" and crash and burn like Sega did.
