Hey guys,

I interviewed for a guerilla marketing business in San Francisco that targeted web forums.

I was told that if I accepted the job, I was to have at LEAST 50 identities on as many forums as I could muster (they wanted 100 eventually), with a goal of 5 posts an hour.  The posts had to be well thought out, and the idea was that I was to establish multiple identities with a history on the forums, so that when the timing was right a well written but subtly placed marketing post could be finessed in.  And regular visitors would recognize the post as coming from a long time poster.

They had 12 people working there full time, and were hiring 10 more.  You do the math.  No wait, I'll do it for you:  that's 880 posts a day (if minimum was met).  However he said the better ones could do around 8 or 10 an hour.  And they had different "verticals" so there was the sports guy, and the games guy, the hentai, excuse me I mean anime guy, etc.

But the most critical point was this: develop and integrate the identity.  No random "HEY EB GAMES IS AWESOME BUY THIS" stuff.

Kinda spooky.

Somehow I'm not surprised, but this confirmation makes it somehow creepier.

WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

That's okay, though, most of the time when I'm on forums I do it because I like to hear myself speak...I mean, see myself write...than to actually take someone else's opinions as gold.

Guys, I heard that if you buy 5 of the new DS Lites and get them in the same room, they will spawn a 6th, even smaller DS!

I've already preordered my 5!  You should too!

I forgot about that! What a cruel, sick world. I'd be ashamed of it if the other 8 weren't so uninhabitable.

(There might be a tenth planet, actually.  Multiple times farther out than Pluto.  So that's another one that's uninhabitable.)

I recall a guy did change his name to "Turok" for a year, and a couple sold the rights to name their kid on eBay.  I think the name became "Pepsi" or something.

Also, and I found this on Wikipedia the other day, this guy changed his name to "Optimus Prime" because the original Optimus Prime of the Transformers (G1) was like a father figure to him.  Not quite marketing but it could be.

Not surprised, Ive actually spotted a few of these people.

This forum is a inmune to this thankfully, we are Nintendo fanboys so we dont need their advertisement most of the time, and if bill suddenly starts to hype killzone psp he will be spotted easily in less than a nano second.

Killzone PSP lol, why not just get Coded Arms, it's a very fun PSP first person shooter.  You can pick it up at your local EB Games, although it may be hard to find because it is in very high demand, it's almost always sold out because everyone wants it.  but if you can find it, it is a very good game and worth the price tag.

It's easy to check who it is. Just look for high post counts...

Or signatures that declare affection for specific game series that have imminent upcoming releases...

Or who stress the importance of loyalty, more specifically brand loyalty...

Or who have cute girls in their avatars to avert suspicion...

I'm not talking about anyone in particular.

Coded Arms -- Hottest new PSP game? Yes!
Totally. Sold. Out.

Here's the lowdown. In my city, there are 2 EB Games, 3 GameStops, 1 GameXchange, 5 Blockbusters, 3 Movie Galleries, a Circuit City, 3 Walmart Supercenters, and a BestBuy.

Nobody has this effin' title. It sold out Day 1! Well, one good thing comes of the title being sold out -- it can be traded in and sold for cheaper! Fortunately, I finally found a pre-played copy of Coded Arms which had actually been traded in not long before I came in and bought it. So, I've had a few good hours with the game, single-player albeit, and here's what I have to say.

**** Lumines. This game takes the cake by far. The first FPS on the PSP, this game is absolutely incredible. Let me go ahead and state now that, even though I often enjoy them, I'm pretty bad when it comes to playing an FPS. Counterstrike, UT2004, Far Cry, etc. Well! Coded Arms, for a noob like me, absolutely rocks.

Its first, foremost, and greatest feature is the aim assist. It can be disabled and adjusted over 5 different levels of accuracy. It's really awesome -- when you get fairly close to your target with your cursor, it'll automatically target the enemy! It doesn't follow them if they move, but it does definitely help out just to get a fix on 'em.

Next, the controls. I was a little afraid of how the game would handle on the system, but I should've known better than to doubt the development team at Konami. Every button is used, including the analog stick, and everything works perfectly. Your action buttons are used for turning up, down, left, and right. The Directional buttons are as follows -- Up brings you to a Zoom p.o.v., Down reloads your current weapon, and Left and Right switch between the 5 weapons you have equipped. There are more than 5, but you can only carry 5. The L Shoulder button is used to Jump, and the R Shoulder button fires your current weapon. Lastly, the Analog Stick is used for moving. You can change directions while moving by using the analog stick and the action buttons in tandem, obviously.

The music's decent enough for an FPS. Mostly techno. Pretty basic stuff.

The graphics are pretty nice when compared alongside some of the other PSP games. Koanmi didn't falter here and they continue to produce A+ stuff for the PSP.

Like I said, forget Lumines. Trade it in and buy this if you can find it and I swear you won't be disappointed. Not only is this a great PSP game, it's a great FPS. It's a lot of fun, the interface is awesome, and the gameplay and controls are both very solid. Buy this game!
