Any confirmation?

As far as the screens go, i like the menues. They look very retro. When the Rev comes out, I'll take mine apart and mount it in a NES case.

I call BS for these reasons:

1. Illusion of Gaia
2. Ogre Battle 64
3. Sin and Punishment

Now, I want these games.  Desperately.  But they stick out terribly because they are not first party (S&P is an exception, but I listed it as it was not released in the USA).

Also, why Mario Party 3 only?  Where is Super Mario World 2?  And while I hope for Goldeneye, does Nintendo have the license/rights to do that?

For goodness sakes.

GoldenEye as a retro download is a license to print money.  Okay, maybe not, but it'd be a huge hit again.

I don't care if Nintendo had the license with Rare, who's now part of Microsoft, or that EA currently has the James Bond license.  (And Sony owns MGM now, do they not?  I don't even know if that last part even matters, though.)  SOMEBODY do the talking to get this game available.  Pass the money around!

But anyway...those screens could easily be faked.  I would prefer something closer to DefectDS's mock-ups.

EDIT: The source, Joystiq.com, says they're merely mock-ups for the survey.

Well Sony Pictures owns the Spider-man Movie and its games are ported accros all platforms so the movie company probabaly doesnt have much say other than granting the initial liscence.

Also if Sony can make a buck off of Nintendo you can bet they will. I sort of like the menu it looks a lot like what I was envisioning anyways. Wait just a second, there's no Killer Instinct in that list!  Somebody must pay now!

One thing that I found interesting is the "rent" option, if this is real though, it has me worried.  How much more would a game have to cost if you were to consider renting it?

That game list BLOWS!

There are many things wrong with it, so I call this FAKE....

Nintendo wouldn't just up and make a survey. And if they would, it would be on Nintendo's site and all those that subscribe would get an email. Furthermore, this is a survey, correct? Why would Nintendo make a survey that you can't actually participate in?

Illusion of Gaia and Sin and Punishment were all published by Nintendo, so it isnt crazy to think the list might be real, the weird one is Ogre Battle 64.

No, the weird ONES are having Rare IP's and not having BattleToads, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo Kazooie, and Killer Instinct 64! Having Punch Out!, but not Super Punch Out! Mario tennis, but no MarioKart 64! I mean, where are the franchises? Where are the sequels?

This list just screams ametuer.

If it's true, then I am horribly dissapointed. I would of rather had ALL Nintendo games then this list of mediocrity.

Even if this is true, it's probably just a working list.. there's no way in hell Nintendo won't release Mario Kart 64. Maybe it's alist of games that will be available at the start, then new ones will be released as the time goes on, although if that were the case, it seems like they would release too many at the beginning.

It's mediocre (sp?) because of how incomplete it is. Sure it's has many awesome games, but where are the rest? It's like an entre with no appetizer, salad, or dessert. I mean sure I'll enjoy the meal, but those extras go a long way.

I'm just dissapointed by the size of the list. Hopefully you guys are right and its just preliminary...

Is this story even true?

Lame that people still dont accept nintendo could get permission to use goldeneye from EA
3rd company makes a game (rare) + Rights owner to licence and publisher (EA) + Asks to publish the game, gives money for it (nintendo) = download

That's what I keep saying myself.

People seem to think it'll be all there but I'm sure they could, and likely will, release some at a time to maintain interest.

Japanese games would take time to translate and third-party developers may take a while before even negotiating for their games to be available, anyway.  Even if everything and everyone could be on board, why throw everything out at once?

"One thing that I found interesting is the 'rent' option, if this is real though, it has me worried. How much more would a game have to cost if you were to consider renting it?"

That's a good point.  If these are in the cheap impulse-buy price range we all want it to be what would be the point of renting?  If a download is less than five bucks there's not much reason to spend only a dollar to rent it.  It only really makes sense if the games are $20 or higher.

Unless the rentals are free.  What if Nintendo just gives you to option to try a game out for 15 minutes?  You can't save, can't rent more than one game at once, and can't rent the same game more than once a month so if in fact you can beat the game in 15 minutes you still can't just load it up any time you want.  But it lets you see if the game is for you before buying it.  This is just pure speculation on my part but it would be a neat idea.

As for Mario Kart 64 Nintendo might have the idea that it would cut into sales of current Mario Kart games.  That's kind of a silly idea but Nintendo has apparently always been sour on demos because they think it cuts into sales so you never know what logic they're using.

That's a great idea. One of the best I've heard. Maybe 15 mintues is too long though (well for the NES and SNES anyway). Maybe with different games they can employ different timers, although I just see that as more work that probably isn't neccesary.

Japanese games would take time to translate

Umm....What? They are going to translate games?

I thought that each region has its own server for the games released in that region. If you wanted a game not released in your area, you can download it from another. I never heard anything about translating. That would take roughly.......forever.

I just thought so because Sin & Punishment somehow made the list...assuming this is a real list that they are considering, anyway.  Isn't that a Japan-only game?

Translating formerly Japanese-only games could maintain interest in the service.  New fans of actually longtime franchises that are only relatively new in North America like Fire Emblem, (Advance) Wars, Custom Robo, etc. might want to buy other games in the series.  (I've always found it hard to get FF VII-and-above fans to play the 2D Final Fantasy games, but maybe they're just graphic whores.  I think REAL fans of series would like to be able to play some older games within the franchises they love so much.)

As a big Nintendo fan, I'm probably going to willingly spend money on games I've played multiple times already.    Wouldn't it be nice to also find "new" oldies-but-goodies to play?

(I suppose there's more than just language issues, though...I had a Japanese/European version of Ice Climber so until SSBM, I thought it was normal to attack seals in that game instead of the Topi creatures or whatever.)
