Belkin F5D7230-4 Ver.4001
« on: December 04, 2005, 07:29:17 PM »
I recently rushed to Staples to buy a Wifi Router, I prepared my self so i went to the WFC website printed the list of routers with ratings.   Then when i was at staples i wanted the belkin that has 5 stars on it so i got my list
of serial# compare them, then paid went home.   Just to Realize that i got one that is not listed??? the one that comes close is Ver.4000 witch it got 0 Stars? i really felt like an idiot so i still didn't give up after a few tries setting this F'N thing up, I turn my DS on search for a connection BOOM! Instantly it found it so i was pretty happy then linked my DS and i started playing online with another friend in the same room we have no disconnections nothing i have to complain about.(besides my bad grammar) so i'am really happy with the Router cause it has a 400ft range i tested all over the house and it worked really good with the DS full signal strenth.

Thank you for making this post and confirming that this router is compatible with Nintendo WFC.
As of this posting, the ver 4001 model is not listed on nintendowifi.com.

I saw this router for about $40 at Wal-Mart this morning,
but wasn't sure if i should buy it.  I will now.

I happen to have a d link router that is not compatible with Nintendo WFC.
Also, I have issues getting a computer that is like 3 rooms away and downstairs to work consistently with my dlink router.. hopefully the belkin will have better range.. we'll see!

Btw.. this post is the first listing that comes up when searching:
f5d7230-4 ver 4001 "nintendo ds"
on google.

$40 for a router... that's mighty enticing. I will have to await some more feedback

Update...
I was in Wal-Mart early this morning.
On the shelf they had the Belkin F5D7230-4 Ver.4001, and the ver 5000.

I decided to try the ver 5000 for fun.  [same price]

I could not get it to work with my Nintendo DS.

I was testing Mario Kart DS.

I was able to successfuly set up and test the connection on the Nintendo DS.. but it would never connect to Nintendo WFC.

I made a post that goes into more detail about trying to set up the Nintendo DS with the Belkin F5D7230-4 ver 5000.

My plan is to return the ver 5000 today and swap it out with a 4001.  I will update you.

Well.. I was about to make a post about how I could not get the DS to work with my new Belkin F5D7230-4 Ver.4001 either.. but it finally did get connected.

It was after multiple tries.. a firmware upgrade, and changing settings..

I'm not saying that  any of the stuff I did made it work... but i've sucessfully done a few races.
