Killer Games

I think what Nintendo needs to do is at least have three killer exclusive games for Revolution from third parties.

Shenmue III- i think as a next gen game it could become a powerful seller if marketed...plus it fits the Nintendo genre demographic...add badass controller

Free Radicals- nintendo should have them make an exclusive fps game and keept it that way.

and the last one should be some new genre

Go ahead, describe how exactly those games would become killer apps AND don't get ported to other platforms.

thats Nintendo's biggest probelm...they can't keep exclusives from third parties.
The only ones they kept were re:make and re0..one was a remake..and the other one i still havnt beat.
the important game re4 ended up on ps2 despite the director claiming he would chop his head off.

As a person who bought a dreamcast for shenmue i really think it should be on Revolution. It bombed on xbox, but I am sure if it was released on Gamecube it would have done alot better. It isnt exactly the same as Zelda but has alot of common aspects. It was funny to play Zelda MM around the same time as Shemue because their similar time structures.

I think the best way to get a solid exlusive is a hat made of money and a contract...and maybe a reduced liscensing fee. I think alot of the reason why re4, killer 7, etc never made it to remain exclusive was there was no contract, no gaurantee..it was all a weak sort of charitable thing. Nintendo needs to get contracts and make deals.

also, some games just wontwork on the other systems...they would have lame dual analog controls(i never liked dual analog..except for luigi's mansion)

Any game with a japanese name will flop in the US. I wont buy it at least. So forget that shemue your talking about. Nintendo needs to try and capture the US market. And Shemue ( whatever the hell that is) wont accomplish that.

Nintendo just needs to bend over and drop the cash for Half life or make something similar. ANd also get someting like Oblivion. Lastly, when they get either of the before mention games, bend over again, take it in the tocks and keep it exclusive AND!!!!!!! promote the damn game like Microsoft and Sony does. I remember seeing Halo commercials for damn near a year.

Onimusha sold pretty good didn't it. Shenmue on Dreamcast sold well. I don't really care what games are called as long as they are cool. If your worried about the name...you could be right. Maybe they should make a shenmue game and call it Revenge Quest or something edgy.....although my name out of a HAT sounds really lame. The Path sounds pretty cool.

It makes me sad to read this thread because of the underlying message that the only way Nintendo can "succeed" is to outspend and outbribe and out money-hat Sony and Microsoft.
Is that all videogames are nowadays? Whoever has the most money wins?

Microsoft has the most money, and they're losing Kairon. The Xbox never has and never will make money for them; and their already expecting an even more ginormous loss when the 360 hits the streets.  Whoever has the most (spendable!) money gets the most exclusives; whether or not they turn out to be good or not is ultimately up to the devs.

I think that we should all have been clamoring for the return of the Nintendo second party blockbuster - it seems like Sony and MS have them beat there as well as the general third party exclusive environment. More likely the Retro folks'll be churning out Metroid games for the rest of their unnatural lives, I guess.

One killer (niche) third party exclusive I hope to see take advantage of the rev controller will be a whole new genre... well actually an old genre with a new name....

I call it....

The Recliner RPG!

I know it won't have wide appeal, but there is a certain type of fan, like myself, that would love the relaxation it would provide.

Basically all I want is a traditional turn-based RPG made by Square-Enix designed with the single controller held in one hand... None of this active battle junk... just recline into a chair and get engrossed the story....

Yeah yeah, I know many RPGs have already been this type of game, but something can be said for doing it ON PURPOSE.  =P

3 third party killer apps? I'll say

- Half Life

- Something new from Square-Enix (for Japan)

- Something else

Really, i'm not naming any franchises for the last one because I think it shoudl be new

Shenmue for Revolution isn't happening (the Shenmue creater / developer / some guy involved with Shenmue is planning full PS3 and Xbox 360 support and hasn't even looked at the Revolutoin controller), and if it did it wouldn't sell well on Rev because it wont sell well anywhere, nobody cares about Shenmue.

Yeah, I can see it now... MS releases Halo 3... and the Rev gets a year and a half old FPS?  That would be great...

FEAR is nowhere close to a killer app. The singleplayer is a bog standard FPS with some scripted sequences and the multiplayer is just plain unbalanced garbage. So it's very much like Half-Life 2 without that idiotic Steam.

have you even played the final version, the demo wasnt even a stage from the game, it was just a few rooms and corridors copy and pasted together from the final version.
Im guessing you think geist 2 or metroid prime 3 would sell better? Thats a joke
The game would only be 1year old, and could easly have the expansions
Halo 3 wil sell well no matter what, and ps3 has unreal touny 2007...whats rev got? I dont think metroid prime holds up in the mainstream, and geist bombed.
mainstream doesnt care about Shenmue, the og version flopped in the west and so did the xbox rerelease, why would a rev version do better?
I said FEAR because Its been getting high rating in nearly every review, Nintendo could jump on it, fans would enjoy it (unless there close minded like on this site, yet they will openly open there head to a low rated game to geist) and Nintendo itself would itself have atleast 1 fps that isnt multiplatform.
Remember the release of GC, its exclusive FPS? Die hard muahahaha, Nintendo could easly do the same with FEAR
It would for sure do better then shenmue or another FF:CC

Heh...thats funny...I had read that he was looking at all the next gen systems for release...where did you hear this?

As for their "killer apps" (gawd I hate that term), they already have ssbmRevolution on the way...in addition to Miyamotos new franchise (which may or may not be a horror game)...

First person shooters would do very, very well on the Rev...maybe they could get "Seriouser Sam: The Next Generation" or something.

All I know is, if Square-Enix isn't just talking out of their ass and actually go multiplatform with the Final Fantasy series...it would be a big boost for the Rev.  I mean...FFXIII on the Revolution?

What about that Diablo-themed FPS?  I can't remember the name.  But it looked semi interesting.  I don't think there's ammo, or something.  I dunno.  I wasn't really paying attention.

I've never played the demo, only the final. Sure, it's better than Halo in SP but so is a pile of matchsticks. It has no coop or good multiplayer which would prevent it from becoming a widespread party game (which is the only thing that saved Halo) so the killer app potential is severely lacking. A killer app has to be playable for weeks or months until the post-launch games trickle in. FEAR is play-once-and-forget.

First person shooters would do very, very well on the Rev...maybe they could get "Seriouser Sam: The Next Generation" or something.

It's called Serious Sam 2. Yep, that's a next-gen level game, at least on the PC. The Serious Engine 2 is a next-gen engine and would fit the Rev very well.

vudu: Hellgate: London. It sounds nice but I want that to remain on the PC since Diablo lived so long because of patches and the expansion, on the Rev H:L couldn't live up to that.

A killer app? How about (ohmigosh) a Nintendo-developed StarFox Revolution? That would be orgasmic. Assault was okay, but it didn't really feel like StarFox. Or, of course, the infamous Pokemon MMORPG idea...

Killer games? I'd imagine Nintendo needs an exclusive fps (Zoonami?), an exclusive puzzle-adventure game for teh non-gamers and me (Cyan?), and a REAL Final Fantasy game (preferably exclusive....but that'll probably never happen).
