I'm wondering how the gaming Mags will view the REV, my guess is they'll unanimously look down on it but heres hoping they give it a fair shake.

so far the press has been really positive, even the magazines who didnt get hands on impressions.

I took a look at G4's coverage of TGS and I was just waiting for the Nintendo bashing. I just knew that they would go nuts over the PS3 and then just say terrible things about the the Revolution. I could not believe my eyes and ears when they gave more positive reactions to the Revolution than they did to the the PS3.  There was just about no bashing on Nintendo's side at all, and it was all coming from the Hosts of X-PLay who love to bash and that guy from the G4 news show I think. I was amazed, and all I could think of was "are things really starting to turn around for Nintendo?" Mostly because general response seems so much more positive than I think any of us expected.

The guys at xplay love nintendo though, they usually review their games pretty good.  If you watch the show you will notice in between Morgan and Adam theres always a shot of the Gamecube almost in every episode.  I believe the Ps2 and xbox are on either side but their chairs cover the full frontal shots of the hosts.  Xplay is actually a good show, and I love their reviews because they always tend to make me laugh.

People respect innovation as long as it doesn't seem like a desperate company trying to produce a fad. Whatever you can say about the maturity of its image, Nintendo has a well-earned reputation as a monolith of dependable quality among true gamers, and this inclines them to see the NRC as daring and far-sighted innovation rather than useless g i m m i c k. Also, people really do want to try something new. And finally, the success of the DS has bought them a lot of leeway for experimentation.

Nintendo has had plenty of good press in the past...in particular, if I remember right, Steven Kent gave some of the first GameCube impressions in Time and was very favourable.  Seems like Time is good to Nintendo.  I'm glad to hear this because for months it's been nothing but 360 and PS3 and I was worried Nintendo might not be able to break into the mainstream media with Rev.

This is good press for Nintendo so I'm happy about that.  Though I doubt Time has been playing all these amazing Rev games so I'm not going to take this as a serious endorsement.  Time is excited about the Rev because it's new technology and the press always goes ga-ga over new technology.  Still that's better than nothing.  At the very least the remote is going to get them mainstream press coverage.  Lets just hope that once they have everyone's attention they actually deliver.

Everyone keeps saying G4 was up on the Rev....  Man, the day the announcments went down I broke my personal rule and flicked over to there... it was that stupid show with the two stupid chicks (one of which demoed Nintendogs with Shiggy) and they had some game journalist wannabe punk star on there saying that Nintendo was the worst controller design company ever (really showing his ignorance) saying that the N64 controller was crap, the gamecube controller "feels like a toy" and now they just made a remote control.

It was terrible, and I promptly changed the channel.

That was the crappy g4tv.com show. you shoud had watch xplay the only show that dosen't hate and bash nintendo but they do hate anime.

G4 doesn't always talk badly about Nintendo. They do sometimes complement the controller. I tend to watch AotS a lot, although 1/2-2/3 of the network doesn't like Nintendo.

G4 usually has good specials and such but they mostly get ruined by one jackass who'll come on and say something like, "I don't see why people liked SM64. That game sucked and was praised just because it was in 3D." OR "I just don't see how the Rev controller will play standard games because I wasn't paying attention when they mentioned the shell." I just can't hate the network when it's just like 6 people ruining it. AotS, X-play, Judgementday, and Cinematech are still enjoyable. The non-game related shows are also decent.

I like how now G4 airs mostly the Whip Set, Fastlane, and the Man Show, which are about black peole and cars, attractive people and drama, and boob and butts respectively.  They've also got Braniac, which is a Mythbusters rip-off with little science and mostly "edgy" sex related "experiments."

Desperate for ratings?  I think so.

X-Play is the only watchable show on there, but sometimes they go for comedy over actual reporting, case in point their Polarium review which mentioned nothing about the gameplay (for serious guys).  The guys who do Judgement Day make me sick- especially Tommy, who's an egotistic jerk who openly insults Vic's tastes in games on the show.

The last time I actually watched the channel was for their reporting on the Rev, and before that I hadn't watched it for months (yeah, I saw the punk guy who insulted Nintendo's controllers- it was lol).  Every once and a while I'll turn to it, but it's pretty bad.  HOWEVER, just the other day I saw Leo doing Call for Help and he mentioned his podcast in it- is this coming back?  That and TSS were the only things I really watched on TechTV

I loved TechTV.  It was the only channel I ever watched...and I nearly cried with G4 bought it out and fired everybody.

I watch Xplay when I see its on, but thats it.

Did you know Tommy Talarico made the sound effects for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater? Aside from that cool fact, he's a douchebag. And Attack of the Show is absolutely horrible, the Screen Savers was much better. I don't think many people here know of the story of how badly G4 SCREWED just about everyone from TechTV (which was a much better channel) out of a job.
