Yet another article. Good Nintendo horn tooting there.

My fav quotes:

"Sony and MS are businesses first. One day, someone in a suit more expensive than my house is going to see the billions (read that: billions) thrown into these two black holes and say, “Remind me why we’ve wasted billions of dollars we could be using for our core competencies on game consoles that don’t make us any money and, in fact, require losing lots of money just to stay competitive.”"

"Normal people, non-gamers, don’t care if they get twenty megapixels to the gigaflop. "

"Hand your grandmother a S-Controller or DualShock. You’ll probably fuse her brain."

"Nintendo doesn’t have to win. They just have to do well, because they’re ahead on points/profits. The other guys are racing like maniacs around the track and Nintendo serenely cruises on with the season wrapped up."

Not a bad article. Not a new viewpoint, either.

They incorrectly suggest Sony has no profits to show for the PlayStation, which isn't true. So if the author thinks they will try to win the battle but may lose the war, I don't think it's that easy. There are more divisions at Sony than just the games division counting on the PS3. The BRD will either be huge or a non-factor in 2 year's time. They're decidedly willing to lose money on BRD to get it to win.  So while the "hook" is the games, there is a bigger strategy at play.

I still think MS is willing to lose as much as they need to to wedge themselves into the space and be a player... until they're horn to horn with Sony. They'll likely lose less this time around, for starters.

I'm not going to recycle the "nongamer" debate, other than to say I hope they're successful finding their market (whatever it'll be) and that it's bigger than GameCube's market (whatever that is).
"wow."

Unprofessional, but I love unprofessional as long as its entertaining, informative, and not absolute crap.
He's occasionally tries to be funny, and actually succeeds.  He's rather clever, as opposed to a lot of stuff that's just annoying.  The intro is good to.
I agree with many of the points he's making, as well as simply hoping for them.  I haven't read it all the way through yet, as I have a meeting to get to, but from what I read it's pretty cool.  His points are well made.
More later, p'raps.

I'd be amazed if both Sony and Microsoft compete in next-next gen. At least as game systems. The Sony and Microsoft "Entertainment computers" though...

You know, and I know this is really long term and kind of off-topic, but I wonder what Nintendo will do when all-in-one computers really do replace stand-alone game systems and TVs.....

That's good enough to go on a T-shirt.

As for this article I found, oh yeah a bit on the unprofessional side but still the overall point that the author is getting around to is a valid one. Nintendo may succeed in the longrun in this industry simply by not going head over heels, balls to the wall gonzo like MS and Sony are. Nintendo want to compete with them in an indirect manner and it's a valid argument that this strategy may pay off for them over the long haul.

But mostly I just really liked that comment about the S-controller fusing grandma's brain.

Yeah, Nintendo will just be forced on to that band-wagon, but I'll bet, they'll revolutionize the all-in-one concept.

I doubt that they will ever dare to go in the Nintendo direction interface wise. They have too much money out for the PS3 already, so it would be unwise to both play the "more shine" card and the "more inovation" card. They will want to stick to a tried and proven strategy, or risk the anger of shareholders looking at too many balancesheets being in the RED!

The above article is fantastic. That guy, Orson, is GOOD at writing and it shows! Couldn´t written it better myself.

Hmmm, not with grammar like that? I just forgot to add "have" in there, and that´s all.

I know how to write, YOU don´t, and you don´t know how to reply to topics in a decent way! If you don´t like what I write, why do you reply to it? To smear me with bs?

I always scored pretty high in terms of grammar in school, but I think you never did, and I think that you are one of those idiots in this Forum who likes to bully me now and then because I am too good at something called writing! and which you are NOT. I have been told many times by people in the press, that I do extremely well in terms of writing and grammar - so KEEP you cynical bs remarks to yourself, mate! I DON´T need you negative feedback, it has NO place or relevance in a Forum like this, and I cannot see what your Signature text has to do with Nintendo at all! THIS is a Nintendo forum, not a Microsoft forum!! Also a part of the grammar in that Signature text could be put into question!

You are just totally average, and like to pull down good people to your own LOW level of existence and in that way elevate yourself above me and others like me. But you have failed! You will never get me to where you want it! Instead the Universe, through the circumstances in your life!, will make you PAY for the evil that lives in your heart!

I just got enough of being looked down on by people in this forum. I try to give some good textual input to the forum, using sometimes hours to research a topic to ensure it is a good read, and all I get is being nearly totally ignored, or pissed on, each time I post or write something, like you just did! The last topic I posted got 4! replies, and even looks like somebody tampered with it´s headline.

I don´t care if I make a mistake in the placement of topics now and then, there is so much going on in this Forum that it is just downright overwhelming many times, in particular it is difficult to find out if something has already been discussed 10 or 100 replies back.

Focus on your OWN mistakes, and correct them, before you pick on other peoples mistakes! And LEARN to reply to topics in a sound manner and not like you are going to fling sh.. in their face, or throw a log at them for writing something you don´t care to reply to in a sound manner. Simply abstain from replying, if you don´t have an intelligible reply! OK? Or someone will have to teach you how you reply to people´s topics! This forum is not a wrestling arena, but a place where opinions are voiced and discussed!

If you don´t get that in your head, I suggest you stop participating alltogether! I will not accept seeing a person such as you coming with inflammatory remarks, that incite anger or sorrow in a person just because you can´t control your own crudeness! You LOWER the whole value of this Forum like that! Maybe it is because of people like YOU that so few are logged onto this Forum at the same time. Yeah, I think it is. If I see that you one more time throw bs at people like this, I will never again reply to any of your topics! Take that, "grammar expert"!

And for any other member in here who has so much against me, keep your hate against me to yourself. I don´t need it, and the website don´t need it. Get your bs out in other ways, such as joining the morbid Microsoft Online forum where anonymous cowards sit and throw totally inflammatory remarks at eachother all the time, while they play against eachother or with eachother - something Nintendo will NEVER allow in their upcoming Online Network! God bless Nintendo!

Yes with grammar like what I quoted above, you couldn't have written it better yourself, but that was a joke that I guess was just a little to low for someone of your HIGH (or HI?) level of intellegence or grammatical expertise to catch, I'll be sure to include a smiley face next time.

"Couldn't written it better myself." or "Could not written it better myself"
should have been
"Couldn't have written it better myself" or "Could not have written it better myself"
get it? hahaha, ok... nevermind

The sig has to do with Nintendo's Rev Controller and I quoted it from Pale, that's why it has his name at the end, so take your grammar issues up with him.

for being in your late 30's you sure do take what a binch of  people on the internet have to say WAAAY too seriously. These forums are for entertainment, conversation and debate. Just because I choose to not focus my reply on the bulk of your post(that you spent hours researching) and instead make a small joke off of a tiny comment you make at the end, you get irritated because you feel like we are ignoring you? You act as if I am here specifically here to bully you, but I can't think of anytime I have ever said anything negative towards you? So now I am LOW and have EVIL in my heart because I have a sense of humor?

You, MATE, need to get a life, I don't have anything personal against you, & I don't wish to fight.  If you don't have a sense of humor and don't like what I(or anyone else on the forum) writes, maybe you should listen to yourself & follow your own sense of logic.

BlackNMild2k1, It is GOOD that you reply to me like you do now!

Yes, I don´t know you personally, but I have seen too much evil coming at me from people in my life, and it was done on full purpose to do damage and out of jealousy and hate. I should be more calm with such things as your kind of way of replying sometimes, but am not, since I was hurt too many times, and the damage was not repaired. So, I will honestly tell you that I feel like a guy with a big wound which just healed, but did not forget the pain, and still have mental symptoms because of it, and then somebody says something which feels unfair and I go off like a loose cannon. But never for the purpose of hurting anybody, only to defend.

So I will appreciate if you place a smiley, next to some reply which is intended as a joke, but could be perceived otherwise. I don´t think I am the only one alive who can miss a point in somebody´s remarks sometimes. And if one feels that way throughout a certain period of time, one will eventually explode and let it all come out. But, your good point is that you can control yourself, and not counterattack in a just as ferocious manner. That is also the only way people should be, not just in this Forum, or any Forum, but in the world around us. Keeps the world moving.

I guess what I just learned about this Forum, is that people behave like they do for fun and entertainment, like a bunch a young guys talking among eachother, hanging out, and can get nasty at times, but merely for the same reasons. So I guess, that takes a huge load off of my shoulders and makes me feel good again. So if a person comes along and truly is mean on me again, I will be able to better tell and probably just ignore him. Better with a few disliking you, than all hating you. So - thanks!
