Geist 2 for Revo?
« on: September 28, 2005, 04:54:49 AM »
Most of the reviews of Geist can be summed up as such, great idea, flawed excecution.  Mostly the problems are in the graphics and the somewhat imprecise controls, but with the new Revo control scheme being perfect for FPS gaming, what would be the chances of seeing a Geist 2 on the Revo and would people be interested in it?

Yes, I'd love to see a Rev version of Geist, considering I loved the first one...

I too would like a rev geist game. The GC game was very good. It was fun and the music was excellent. The controlls weren't that bad. My only gripe was the graphics. I have been spoiled by RE4. I was expecting the same level of detail and polish from a Nintendo published game. I was expecting no less than Metriod prime graphics from Geist. I was disappointed in that respect, but i am glad i bought the game.

I for one haven't bought Geist yet, but I plan to sometime in the future. But anyway, knowing N-Space's record with Geist, don't expect to see the thing any time in the next five years.......

Geist had enough in it that it made you yearn for what could have been but wasn't.

I wouldn't mind a Geist sequel for the Revolution.  Geist is the type of game that is it was a launch game of a budding system would have been HUGE...instead it was an average game (although fun) on a system that is lacking popularity right now.  I thought Nintendo should have regeared Geist for the Revolution from the very beginning to allow for a mature FPSer for launch.

Microsoft did that right about Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo...the games would have been received well on the Xbox, but on the Xbox 360 they flesh out the launch lineup and adds two games people have been dying to play to their lineup.

So yeah, I hope Geist gets a second chance, because its a great idea and the game is completely underrated.

Or, Microsoft could have released them on Xbox, tried to make some money from the console and not cut the current console lifecycle short by a year.  Or whatever....

Vudu:  True Microsoft could have stayed in the current generation for one more year...but competiting against Sony and Nintendo at the same time was going to be a hard battle.  Microsoft knew it would never beat Sony in a fair fight, so they opted to release early.  A gamble they hope will give them a year head start.

If they win, then they can keep this generation going for 6-7 years no problem...if they lose then they don't lose much except for some respect.

Remember, the first system was always meant to open the doors and oppurtunities for Microsoft to succeed in the market.  Xbox 360 is the system they are striving to make a profit on.

The prob is that Perfect dark zero isnt going to be a launch game, Its been stated on IGN.com, there still working on the game as we speak, they expect it to be released in december (being rare proberly 2006).
Nintendo could push this for release, This and The new Metroid

I thought Microsoft said it was the system after the Xbox 360 where they hope to make a profit? At least that's what they said with the Xbox (two generations later was their projected time for profits).

If that were true then they wouldn't have skimped so much on the 360, they would have kept throwing money into it, loading it up with the best gear.

I think Microsofts intial plans were changed when they saw how much money you can lose in this market.  Its not like the PC market where one person will definately dominate...market control can switch every few generations with no good reason.

Actually, there's a very good reason.  It's because there's a very specific point in time where a console's life cycle ends.  Because of that many many people upgrade to a new system during a very short period of time.

With PCs you might need a new computer because your old one if five years old.  But Mine's just a year old, so I don't need a new one.  Someone else could have bought one last week.  There's no clear-cut beginning or end, and therefore it's difficult for things to change as rapidly as they can in the console business.
