Activision and The Military Channel team up to ensure a true representation of war.

ACTIVISION AND THE MILITARY CHANNEL INK DEAL THAT PROVIDES

CALL OF DUTY® GAMES WITH AUTHENTIC WAR CONTENT

Santa Monica, CA – Sept. 23, 2005 – In a move that will add even greater  authenticity to the best-selling Call of Duty brand, Activision, Inc.  (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that it has signed a deal with the Military  Channel to produce a series of historical vignettes that will be featured in  the company’s upcoming World War II-themed games Call of Duty® 2 and Call of  Duty® 2: Big Red One.  As a part of the agreement, the Military Channel will  also air a half-hour special on The Big Red One, America’s most decorated  fighting unit, and the making of the highly anticipated first-person-action  game, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.  â€ťThe Big Red One: Behind the Game” will  premiere November 1 at 9:00 pm/EST on the Military Channel.

“We are pleased to partner with the Military Channel for our Call of Duty  brand,” said Dusty Welch, Activision’s Vice President of Global Brand  Management.  â€śThey are providing us with compelling World War II video  content that will take players back in time and draw them even further into  the epic and cinematic Call of Duty experience.”

“The Military Channel takes viewers behind the lines with the highest  quality video programming, and we’re excited to help bring that spirit to  the most authentic WWII first person action game in interactive  entertainment,” said David Karp, General Manager of The Military Channel.  â€śOur relationship with Activision is another pivotal step in growing the  Military Channel brand and puts our name and content in front of a  passionate audience of potential viewers.”

Call of Duty 2 is scheduled for release this fall for Windows® PC and the  Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft; Call of Duty  2: Big Red One is also slated for release this fall for the PlayStation®2  computer entertainment system, the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft  and Nintendo GameCube™.  Both games are currently rated “T” for “Teen” by  the ESRB.

[WTF

Who deleted my post?

The all-Japanese-American 442nd Regiment Combat Team/100th Infantry Battalion was the most decorated American unit in history, not the Big Red 1.]

Agreed that playing as the 442nd would be much more compelling. But to represent a unit that was met with as much controversy would require a decent story, too. Maybe next gen.
