Baten Kaitos 2
« on: September 14, 2005, 05:55:07 AM »
Games Are Fun has a news story saying that Namco has announced Baten Kaitos 2 for the GameCube.  The release date mentioned is December, but I'm guessing that will be for Japan only.  Either way, any major new game announcement for the Cube is good in my eyes.

Announcing a game 4 months before release? Sounds kinda unlikely.

Don't toy with my emotions... I love Baten Kaitos to death, and if this ends up being untrue, so help me god... I will sulk. But sulk like I have never sulked before.

Either way, I would love another, I would hope that the latter portion of the game was a little harder if there is another one (I breezed through the ending of the first). Hope someone is brave enough to localize it too.

I agree that it sounds really late to be announcing it, KDR, but maybe not too late for a Japanese release.  At any rate, it seems like it will come out on GameCube, and I could see it being finished in the first half of 2006.

I thought the first one was okay.  I got into the card system and it was a joy to play.  The story was a bit too corny in some areas even though the graphics were smokin' hot.  I'd rather Namco give us another exclusive sequel to the Tales series.  Tales of Symphonia was a much better game despite the weird overworld representation of enemies.

Nevertheless, we should all be happy that Namco is throwing some love Nintendo's way.  Too bad the Soul Caliber III logic isn't.

Bleh--just beat the first one and I'm not going bother wasting my time with the second.  The battle system was kinda the selling point but the plot, voice acting, and the overall presentation (graphics) were an utter joke.  The in-game cut-scenes (using the engine) look awful but I did like the pre-render backdrops for the most part (they used layering similar to what capcom did for RE remake).

I loved the first one and hope the second one makes it stateside too. I'm more interested in the DS prequel though... what ever happened with that?

There's some footage for this game at jeux-france.com, however it is not a direct-feed and it is pretty noisy from the surroundings of the screen the game was being displayed on.

From what I've seen on the Net, it appears BK2 will use a lot of backgrounds from the first game.
Not a bad thing, but it would explain the 4 month window, sorta...

Dear God, I haven't had time to finish the first, which I've owned since January (yes, sad) but I'm probably going to be enticed to buy this anyway. -_-  For a so-called game drought, I'm trying my best to avoid rain.

EDIT: Fixed analogy that didn't make sense.
